Nestled in over half an acre of gardens, Harvey is a beautifully converted 1950s corridor coach which offers a heady nostalgia trip back to the magical days of steam trains. Retaining almost all of its original British Rail features, Harvey is a unique holiday rental in Cornwall. A stay in a train carriage is one of the most memorable things you will ever do, is family friendly, and is just 20 minutes walk to St Ives Bay.
The coach is set in the coastal town of Hayle in West Cornwall, just one stop from the branch line to St Ives and a short stroll from 3 miles of golden sands.Harvey has been thoughtfully converted but it also manages to retain all the charm and quirkiness of its glory days. Think compartments, lamp shades and luggage racks, as well as original mirrors and upholstery. Railway carriage holidays really are a trip down memory lane!
Situated on the North coast of Penwith in the far West of Cornwall, Hayle is a thriving town with lots to interest all ages. Miles of dunes and golden sand make it perfect for a beach holiday, not to mention a popular spot with surfers, and the area is criss-crossed with footpaths and cycling trails. This part of Cornwall has a wealth of archaeological heritage (Penwith itself is peppered with stone circles, quoits and burial chambers) and the artistic hub of St Ives is just down the road. You could bird watch in the Hayle Estuary, take the children to see the otters and penguins at Paradise Park, go horse riding or fishing, wander round gardens and National Trust properties, or spend a day on the Scilly Isles. Hayle itself has retained its individual character and has a good selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways, as well as supermarkets and specialist food shops.

Interior Details
Despite its size (8 feet wide, 65 feet long and 35 tons) Harvey is only let to one party at a time, but is divided at the centre lobby into two ends; East and West. The price quoted is for the East End only, and parties of more than four must book the West End in addition to the East. The West End can be added for an additional £120 when booking. The sleeping arrangements are a double bed and four bed bunkroom in the East End, and double bed in the West. For larger parties who don't mind all squashing in, both sitting rooms can be used for sleeping in, increasing the capacity to 12. However we only recommend this if you don't mind living like sardines as it will be cramped!
Exterior Details
Outside the carriage there is an enclosed garden area with seating and BBQ facilities, and guests also have access to 10 acres of beautiful woodland. The garden is large and fully enclosed with swings, signal box play house/bird hide, butterfly garden and nature area.
