If you’re planning a celebration with family or a weekend in the country with friends then there’s one really obvious style of accommodation on offer and that’s a traditional historic house or stately home. Sometimes it’s lovely to do things the good old fashioned British way in large group holiday homes.
Halls might not be as prevalent as cottages, houses or even some of the more unusual property types, but what they lack in numbers they more than make up for in elegance, character, history, presence and sheer size. Inside they are magnificent, and features like four poster beds, grand dining rooms, enormous open fireplaces, slipper baths, larders, catering kitchens and well-stocked libraries are not uncommon. And outside they are no less splendid, from the walled gardens and croquet lawns to the tree-lined driveways. Treat yourself to a little step back in time.
