As unusual places to stay go, the historic Masbury Station Signal Box in Somerset is most definitely one of them. Originally built in 1874, it has been beautifully restored to create a unique and romantic getaway for two people. Dog friendly, with walking trails from the door and many nearby Somerset landmarks to explore.
This unique retreat is on the platform of the old Somerset and Dorset line, between the former Waiting Rooms, and the Station House. Once part of the line transporting people by train between Bath and Bournemouth, the Signal Box is surrounded by ancient railway and woodland and is cosy, welcoming, and brimming with character.
Masbury Station is the perfect setting for exploring the local area. There is a garden centre and cafe immediately next door which is open daily for breakfast and lunch, and has fresh produce available to buy. There are many easily accessible local walking and cycling routes around Masbury. The famous Cheddar Gorge, excellent for walking and climbing, is 20 mins drive. The historic city of Wells with its gothic cathedral is a 10 minute drive, and the well known town of Glastonbury with its quirky shops and famous Glastonbury Tor is 20-25 mins drive. There is no shortage of excellent pubs in the vicinity where you can try some of the cider and cheese that Somerset is so famous for.

Interior Details
Upstairs is home to the main living space to maximise the views. The living room has a bright interior, and a vaulted ceiling with huge windows from which to enjoy the unique station setting and the surrounding countryside views. There’s a comfy sitting area with TV and log burner (logs provided). The fully fitted kitchen is well equipped and includes a washing machine, and there’s a dining table and chairs for eating at. The king size bedroom and the bathroom (with shower) is downstairs. Towels included. Wifi throughout. Travel cot / highchair available on request.
Exterior Details
One side of the building the old track and platform has become a unique garden area with a private terrace and patio area, whilst the other side overlooks the woodland of the Dinder Estate. Parking for one vehicle directly outside.
Conditions of Rental
Check in from 3pm / check out by 11am. The Signal Box is pet friendly.
