Nestled in rural Somerset sits Cossington Park, a beautiful family home with a long and fascinating history. Explore the sprawling collection of books, portraits and antiques, enjoy the 22 acres of wonderful grounds and relax with friends and family in this superb retreat.
Home to the owner’s ancestors for more than 300 years, this is a house with a heart. The furniture and paintings reflect the family’s history, the bookcase in the drawing room was carved by a relation, the wheel supports in the library were taken from the owner’s grandfather’s ship and the 5,000 books have been collected by successive generations since the late 17th century. In short, the house is filled with stories. With its informal, friendly atmosphere, a dedicated and caring team of staff, and a gorgeous village location, there isn’t much not to love about this place. Clearly Visit Britain, who have given it a 5 star rating and a Gold Award for Outstanding Quality of Accommodation and Service, agrees. Whether you’re here for a celebration, a reunion, a corporate event or a peaceful retreat, you’re sure to enjoy the beautifully decorated bedrooms, the exceptional service, and the abundance of activities both on and off site.

Cossington Park has 6 bedrooms - there are beds for up to 12 people and sofa-beds for 4 more. Three bedrooms are in the oldest part of the house: Chaucer, The Nursery and The Trusty Servant. The other three are in the 1901 wing: Jolly Monks, The Cobbler and The Pump Room. All the bedrooms, most of which are named after their unusual bronze doorknockers, have period furniture and are thoughtfully decorated. The house also has 4 good bathrooms. On the ground floor you will find the drawing room, dining room, library and kitchen. The drawing room, with its old oak beams, is full of interesting pieces and has French windows which open onto the garden. The library is a lovely, comfortable room full of books, and the dining room seats 14 on antique furniture. The farmhouse-style kitchen, which encompasses a larder, scullery and pantry, is extremely well-equipped and makes a charming informal dining area. There are log burners in both the library and the drawing room. The house has broadband internet access, two televisions with Sky/satellite.
The extensive gardens house some very special trees and a wide range of unusual apples and pears (you can help yourself to fruit in season). The grounds include: the Tilting Yard - a small, pretty garden in front of the house; the Main Garden situated on the south side of the house and featuring a large lawn;
