One-Off Feature
An old stone farmhouse originally dating from the 1800s, here tradition meets modernity to create a charming holiday home for all the family. Delightfully situated in the peace and quiet of several acres of rugged landscape, and within 2 miles of the bustling town of Crickhowell.
General Info
The hillside behind this delightful cottage, Craig y Cilliau, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and attracts a wealth of wildlife. The caves of Agen Allwedd are very popular with cavers, and with footpaths right from the door, walkers, hikers and bikers will be in heaven. The River Usk is easily accessible in Crickhowell, whilst The Brecon and Monmouth Canal runs close to the farm for an easy stroll along the historic tram line. This cottage is within easy reach of the villages of Llangattock and Crickhowell, with plenty of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops, perfect after a day in the hills. Day permits for fishing on the Rivers Usk & Wye are available in Crickhowell and canoes for the River Wye can be rented in Glasbury. Traditional features blend seamlessly with modern comforts in this charming home from home. Sleeping seven with the option of an eighth fold down bed, this stone farmhouse can be booked with the neighbouring barn that sleeps two, perfect for those who wish to holiday together with a bit of their own space. The comfortable and well designed kitchen has a Belfast sink, double electric oven, halogen hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave. The utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a fridge/freezer. The dining area has a quarry stone tiled floor, a pine dining table and chairs and an attractive and efficient wood burner for chilly nights, whilst on warm evenings, you can open the door onto the garden. The large hallway, where the back door leads out to the garden, is perfect for storing muddy boots and coats. The living room, with its oak beams and stone fireplace has a wealth of character, with two sofas and a chair perfect for relaxing on in front of the wood burner, watching a film or perhaps enjoying a jigsaw or game. The first of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has patio doors that lead to a small courtyard, the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee in peace and quiet. There is also a separate room with a power shower on the ground floor. Up a flight of attractive but fairly steep iron spiral stairs, the master bedroom has a double bed and an en suite with a large, deep bath. A further double room, a twin room and a bathroom with bath complete the upstairs. Spend hours playing cricket or croquet in the large garden, bounded in part by stone walls, or simply relax on the lawn. Garden furniture and a BBQ mean you can dine alfresco, sipping a glass of wine. There is also ample parking for several cars and shop.
