One-Off Feature
Famed for its incredible coastline and wonderful landscape, Cornwall is quite possibly one of the UK’s most visited counties, awash with picturesque fishing villages, sandy beaches and historic landmarks. And lying on the fringes of St Austell on the South Coast, the village of Charlestown with its Grade II listed Georgian harbour is Cornwall at its best. With an alluring combination of old and new, traditional and cosmopolitan, it's as sought after as the treasure on the galleons that long ago sailed its waters, and one that promises a truly special experience to those who discover it.
General Info
Offering a one-of-a-kind holiday base from which to discover and enjoy the area’s many and varied attractions, Galleon's Rest is an exceptional property with oodles of beautifully furnished space and a private garden with a hot tub. The house is just a hundred yards from the town’s harbour, shops and restaurants, with some of the best beaches in the area including Charlestown Beach, Duporth and Carlyon, being really easy to get to.

Set over three floors Galleon's Rest is perfectly suited to families, and upon arrival guests will step into a spacious entrance hall which has access to a double bedroom, a family bathroom and a children’s bunk room. Bright and airy, both rooms feel sumptuous and comfortable and boast high quality beds, crisp linen and plenty of room to store clothes and belongings.Upstairs on the first floor, the gorgeous open plan living room with its two contemporary sofas and large wall mounted TV, is a wonderful place for relaxation, while a fabulous little dining area which includes and extendable dining table and views over the waterwheel, makes for a lovely spot to enjoy mealtimes together while discussing the day’s adventures.

The separate kitchen which sits adjacent to the living/dining room is extremely well equipped, with a range of small and large appliances as well as cookware and utensils making it easy to whip up a delicious home-cooked meal or two. On the second floor of the property, a vast master bedroom with sofa bed (ideal for 2 small children), TV and ensuite creates a luxurious and elegant sanctuary, which for guests looking to completely unwind away from a busy schedule, is the perfect space. Outside to the back of the house, guests will discover a small, enclosed garden with seating and a BBQ, where sunny days can be spent soaking away in the bubbling hot tub or unwinding in the sunshine.

Relatively unspoiled by modern society, Charlestown harbour is like taking a step back in time where historic tall ships and a renowned shipwreck museum sit alongside a variety of good restaurants and modern pubs. Used for many of the scenes in the BBCs Poldark series, the village seems to tell the story of a Cornwall past, and history itself seems to permeate the sea air. Just a mile from St Austell, the attractions of The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within easy reach and make for a wonderful day out for both grown-ups and children alike.
