One-Off Feature

Primrose Cottage is a characterful and romantic holiday cottage in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a three minute walk from the coast path near Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland.  A glorious little bolthole in a beautiful setting and close to some of the best sandy beaches in England.

General Info

The cottage sits within a courtyard of cottages which have been converted from farm buildings.  As you walk towards the coast from the cottage you’re treated to wonderful sea views and you can be on the Embleton part of the coast path within 2-3 minutes, with Dunstanburgh Castle as your backdrop.  A perfect escape for beach lovers, nature and wildlife lovers, golfers, watersports lovers and walkers.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Primrose Cottage is a great base for exploring coastal Northumberland.  Turn right on the path and you can walk to the pretty village of Craster with its historic harbour.  Buy some Craster kippers from the smokehouse, or try one of the local pubs.  If you turn left on the coast path you can walk towards Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club and on to Low Newton and the Ship Inn.  Longer walks can take you to Bamburgh or Alnmouth.  The village of Embleton is 5 minutes by car and has a village shop.  Enjoy visits to Alnwick Castle and Garden (for the Harry Potter fans!), Bamburgh castle, Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands.  Boat trips to the islands leave from Seahouses harbour and there’s masses of great wildlife and birdlife to see.  The Ship Inn at Low Newton is a great place for a pint or a pub meal and even has a microbrewery - nearby there are some nature reserve pools with bird hides.  There’s lots to do in the surrounding area for all ages and interests.
