Costa Calida - Murcia

When you’re looking for a holiday villa in Spain, it can be hard to know where to start. So how about considering the Costa Calida in Murcia? Stretching along 250km of coastline it has a gorgeous climate all year round with 315 days of sunshine a year. Less well known and visited than some of its neighbouring areas, Costa Calida is a perfect choice for a holiday villa in Spain if you don’t want to be in the same place as every other tourist. More importantly, the region has plenty to offer its visitors, from seaside resorts and fishing villages to archaeological sites and outdoor activities. If you do want to stay somewhere with a bit of buzz and movement then the seaside resort town of Puerto de Mazarron would be a perfect choice for your holiday villa in Spain. The nightlife is lively and the fishing port active, but there are also unspoilt beaches to relax on. See all our holiday villas in Spain here.

Further along the coast in either direction there are several fascinating places to visit. At one end is the fishing village of El Mojon, near which you will find incredible wetlands where every year flocks of pink flamingos visit. This is a beautiful sight if you’re lucky enough to catch a glimpse, and it is not an experience that every holiday villa in Spain would afford you! Not far away is the little town of Lo Pagan, famous for its mud baths which are said to be healing to the skin and this stretch of coast also houses the Mar Menor, a 170km2 warm lagoon.  If you’re interested in archaeology, then do not miss Cartagena. Here you will find a Roman theatre, a 3000 year old port and a number of museums. With lighthouses dotted along the coastline, tiny villages with traditional churches and sites with calming and restorative properties, a holiday villa in Spain takes on a whole new meaning in Costa Calida.
