Just an hour’s drive east of Lisbon, the Alentejo is a beautiful, mainly agricultural region, remarkable for its wide horizons filled with undulating hills which change colour depending on the time of year. If you’re after holiday rentals in a part of Portugal which remains thoroughly unspoilt, then the Alentejo may well have what you are looking for.
Not only are the landscapes stunning, but the climate is pretty good too; it is the warmest weathered region in Portugal. The main city of this region is Evora, and for the culture vultures amongst you, is stacked with historic monuments, churches and museums. Holiday rentals in the form of urban apartments are an option if you want to be in the midst of a thriving city. Alternatively, if holiday rentals surrounded by peace and quiet are more your thing, head south of Evora where the vast plains become increasingly less inhabited and the sun is stronger, where you can find shade under the olive and oak trees for an afternoon siesta.
