One-Off Feature

Charming and characterful yet supremely comfortable, Chateau de Puissentut is a medieval chateau with a modern twist. Located in the heart of the Gers in South West France the rural setting is wonderfully tranquil, with no near neighbours to disturb the peace, yet is only a one hour drive from Toulouse airport. Part of a collection of holiday rentals in France, whether you’re here for a holiday or a celebration, you cannot fail to relax and unwind in this beautiful setting.

General Info

The Chateau dates back to the 14th century and has now been transformed into a wonderful rural retreat in the heart of the Gers region, where the air is clear, the fields are full of sunflowers and the pace of life is slow. The robust stone walls have stood for centuries and are full of history, but the interiors are fresh and contemporary, with luxurious furnishings, up to date mod cons, and a diverse array of living and entertaining spaces. This is a wonderful and welcoming place both inside and out.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The Gers is a beautiful and unspoilt agricultural region in southwest France, home to medieval villages, weekly famers’ markets and regular food and music festivals. Historic towns like Lectoure, Condom and Auch, with their dramatic cathedrals, bars and restaurants, are all well worth a visit, and the vibrant university city of Toulouse is just an hour away. You may find it hard to leave the peace and luxury of the Chateau, but if you do want to get out and about there are plenty of activities on offer nearby – golf, horse riding, canoeing, wine tasting, tennis, swimming, quad biking and paintballing to name but a few. The village of Monfort, a 5-minute drive or a 30-minute walk away has a bar/restaurant, a grocer, a bakery and a post office, and all other amenities are available within a 15-minute drive.

Getting There & Local Amenities

Getting There:

The nearest airport is Toulouse (Blagnac), which is serviced by Air France/KLM, British Airways and Easy Jet amongst others, and is a 50-minute drive from the château. Ryanair flies into Carcassonne airport which is also reasonably close (1hour 45 minute drive), and Bergerac, Bordeaux, Brives and Rodez airports are also possibilities (between 2 and 2½ hour drives).  TGV trains from Paris arrive into Agen and Toulouse, and there is an overnight train between Paris and Toulouse. From all transport hubs it is necessary to hire vehicles to reach the Château as public transport is infrequent and only runs to nearby towns. Having your own vehicle is also necessary if you want to reach shops and other amenities.  Minibuses and taxis can be hired locally.
