One-Off Feature

If you’re a couple in search of unique holidays, then this is the place for you.  A beautifully restored 1956 Vintage American Airstream, complete with private hot tub and far reaching views to Dartmoor.  It is set in a secluded woodland corner, surrounded by nature, but is just a mile from the waterside village of Dittisham and 10 minutes from the larger coastal town of Dartmouth.  A wonderful romantic retreat.

General Info

This collection of treehouses, shepherds lodges and an iconic 1950s American Airstream is set in the most idyllic rural setting, in a wooded valley on the outskirts of the waterside village of Dittisham in Devon and is just perfect for UK glamping breaks.  Built in 1956, this iconic American Airstream is a ‘Sovereign of the Road’ model which epitomises the style of Wally Byam, the founder of Airstream trailers.  The airstream was owned by a member of Wally Byam’s Caravanners Club, and still has the original stickers from a 1961 Nebraska meeting on the windows.  Dog friendly and  surrounded by lush greenery and woodland wildlife.  Dartmouth is a 10 minute drive, and you can choose between heading inland to enjoy the rural landscapes, or head to the coast for beaches and coast paths. The site won a Bronze award for Glamping Business of the Year 2023, in the Devon Tourism Awards.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Activities on site include a boules pitch, a table tennis table, and direct access to a lovely circular dog walk.  You will not be short of things to do during your stay here as the surrounding area has a wide variety of attractions and activities to suit all ages and interests.  Aside from the miles of wonderful walking trails, some from your doorstep, there are also opportunities nearby for cycling, golf, horse riding and rock climbing.  Head down the road to the blue flag beaches of the nearby coast to enjoy swimming, sailing, fishing and kayaking.  Also in the vicinity are theme parks, gardens and stately homes.  Dittisham, Dartmouth and the South Hams are bursting with pubs, bistros and award winning restaurants for you to choose from, and several of the local places also offer excellent takeaways.  The nearest pub is The Red Lion in Dittisham, just one mile from your accommodation.  There is also a farm shop in Dittisham, and a larger supermarket 10 minutes drive away on the edge of Dartmouth.  The former holiday home of Agatha Christie is a stone’s throw away, and well worth a visit.  There are masses of lovely country walks in the vicinity including a walk that runs alongside the River Dart from Totnes via Dittisham to Dartmhouth, and a fabulous coastal footpath from Dartmouth.
