Safari Tent Glamping in Exton Park near Rutland Water
A collection of six luxury glamping safari tents set within the 500 hectares of beautiful 18th Century Grade II listed Exton Park in Rutland. The family and dog friendly tents sit within a sheltered five acre walled garden which slopes down to an ornamental lake at the bottom. Perfect group accommodation for friends and family, with masses to do in the vicinity including watersports, fishing, golf and exploring Rutland Water.
Exton Park is home to the Gainsborough family and the parkland has existed since the 12th century. The house and grounds are still occasionally used for weddings, film and photo shoots. Rutland is the UK’s smallest county, yet within it is one of the largest artificial lakes in Europe, Rutland Water. Rutland Water is home to over 25,000 waterfowl and is just three miles south of the Exton Estate.
Located just a short drive from Oakham, Stamford, and Peterborough, Exton Park is ideal for those looking to explore Rutland’s natural beauty. The estate offers extensive walking and cycling routes, including 14 miles of footpaths and bridleways, as well as nearby Rutland Water—one of Europe’s largest artificial lakes. Visitors can enjoy a range of outdoor activities, from water sports to fishing, alongside stunning countryside views. The medieval town of Oakham is 10 minutes away, with its castle and County Museum, as well as numerous pubs and restaurants. You can join various activities at the Rutland Watersports Centre, visit the UK’s biggest inflatable aqua park, take a lake cruise, visit the nearby Falconry and Owl centre, and if you are really lucky you might get to see an osprey as Rutland is now home to breeding ospreys for the first time in 150 years.
