General Info

Dittisham Hideaway is home to a unique collection of treehouses, shepherd lodges and an iconic 1950s American Airstream and is set in the most idyllic South Devon rural setting. On a 9 acre private site comprising of woodland and wildflower meadow, it is just perfect for UK glamping breaks and unique stays. Fully dog friendly (with the exception of Buzzard Treehouse and Cedar Shepherd Lodge) the hideaway is surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife, and each accommodation has its own private space and a wood-fired hot tub. Dartmouth is a 10-minute drive, and you can choose between heading inland to enjoy the rural landscapes of Dartmoor National Park, or head to the coast for beaches and coast paths. The site won a bronze award for Glamping Business of the Year in 2023, in the Devon Tourism Awards. Now under new ownership and management, the new family have exciting plans for the site, so watch this space! The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Activities on site include a boules pitch, a table tennis table, and direct access to a lovely circular woodland walk. You will not be short of things to do during your stay here as the surrounding area has a wide variety of attractions and activities to suit all ages and interests. Aside from the miles of wonderful walking trails, some from your doorstep, there are also opportunities nearby for cycling, golf, horse riding and rock climbing. Head down the road to the blue flag beaches of the nearby coast to enjoy swimming, sailing, fishing and kayaking. Also in the vicinity are theme parks, gardens and stately homes. Dittisham, Dartmouth and the South Hams are bursting with pubs, bistros and award-winning restaurants for you to choose from, and several of the local places also offer excellent takeaways. The nearest pubs are The Red Lion (recently under new ownership) and Ferry Boat Inn (FBI) in Dittisham, just one mile from your accommodation or The Sportsman’s Arms. There is also a small community store in Dittisham and larger supermarkets 10 minute drive away on the edge of Dartmouth. The former holiday home of Agatha Christie is a stone’s throw away, and well worth a visit. There are masses of lovely country walks in the vicinity including a walk that runs alongside the River Dart from Totnes via Dittisham to Dartmouth, and a fabulous coastal footpath from Dartmouth.

Interior Details
Handcrafted by local artisans, our shepherd lodges are 26ft long (offering 234 sq ft of space) so they have ample space for two adults. Inside the fabrics, furnishings and bespoke fittings make for a stylish and cosy retreat. There is a wood burning stove, a lounge area, a fully equipped kitchen with foldaway breakfast bar, and king size double bed, and a bathroom with double walk in power shower. They have underfloor heating throughout. All of the shepherd lodges also have a double sofa bed and are able to accommodate a child (or two smaller children).

Exterior Details
Outside you’ll find a private terrace, complete with Weber BBQ, loungers, dining table and chairs, a fire pit, and a wood fired hot tub. There is ample onsite parking, close by to the
shepherd lodges with electric wheelbarrows available to assist with your luggage.

Conditions of Rental
All of our shepherd lodges are dog friendly, for up to two well behaved dogs (except for Cedar lodge which we keep dog-free). Please note that dogs must be kept on the lead while you’re on the property. Minimum stay 2 nights. Open all year round. Check in days are Monday - Saturday. First basket plus one further sack of logs are complimentary. Additional bags of logs can be purchased and are charged at £20 per bag. There’s an EV charging station which is available for guest use at £25 per charge. Bed linen and towels (including for the hot tub) are provided. We have prepared a welcome hamper to settle you in, packed with some local treats, with the inclusion of milk, butter & apple juice. (subject to availability). We also provide tea/coffee/sugar, salt and pepper, cooking oil, washing up liquid, toilet roll and kitchen roll and eco-friendly luxury toiletries.A 25% non-refundable deposit is required when you book your holiday, and the balance is due 6 weeks before the arrival date. Check in from 4pm. Check out by 10am.
