  General Info
Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, has a beauty all of its own; it comes from the tree covered mountains (particularly on the north coast and around the Sami area), beautiful white- stoned or sandy beaches and the clear azure water of the many coves and bays. The valleys and hillsides are covered in olive groves and orchards. Summer arrives in mid May and lasts until mid October. If you are not relaxing at home or on the beach, there are many charming villages and towns to visit, museums, archaelogical sites dating from Mycenean and Roman times, churches, caves and wonderful walks or cycle rides with views for inward and outward eyes to feast on. A week or two in Kefalonia can only whet the appetite for savouring the peace and tranquillity of this island’s coast and countryside.

Details on the area surrounding the property/accommodation
The Walnut Tree's central position on the island ensures easy access to Kefalonia's airport, the capital of Argostoli and other major attractions which include the cave/lake of Melissani, famous Myrtos Beach and the beautiful little port of Fiskardo. Activities available locally are sailing, diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, cycling, walking and a good deal of lazing about around the pool drinking in the beautiful views! There is a very good riding school just outside the town. There are tennis courts at Karavomolis. At Antisamos beach, there are all the usual beach attractions - windsurfing, pedalos, water-sking, etc. There are plenty of delightful restaurants, bars and cafes within a short drive in Karavomilos, Agia Efimia and Poulata. Three kilometers away, the bustling port of Sami has banks, post office, medical centre, tourist office, supermarkets and shops. However, the charm of The Walnut Tree is its wonderful views of surrounding green countryside, the mountains and the sea.

What visitors have said about The Walnut Tree

The Walnut Tree was an absolute delight.
Kate Heard,  UK,  Jul 2008

‘We had the most fabulous time. Everything was perfect. The villa was absolutely out of this world. We simply loved the views and every day commented how lucky we were to be where we were. I must mention the lovely couple who so discreetly kept the pool immaculate and the gardens to an amazing standard. They were superb. Plus having the villa cleaned twice a week was amazing and a great touch. One thing we particularly loved was how well equipped the villa was. There was simply everything there for us to prepare any dish that we wanted to in the evening. We even used your outside oven twice and with great success I might add. What can I say about Spyros? He is perfect. Very helpful and a great guide. We ate out quite a few nights and as you said Baby Sam was welcomed everywhere we went. We particularly liked the restaurant in Ag Efimia and the local taverna.’

just I'd like to thank You for the really beautiful villa we spent our vacations in. Our staying in Walnut Tree has been really perfect as we hoped. Spiros was every ready to give us every solutions we've asked him. We spent perfect holidays (too short...)
Giancarlo Rago,  Italy,  Aug 2009

After having returned home yesterday from our Greek holidays we want to let you know that we enjoyed an excellent stay in 'The Walnut Tree'. Your villa was an ideal place for our family holidays. The house is very nicely located, quiet, very well equipped and tastefully done. Spyros was very kind and active (as always) and the cleaning lady and the gardening couple were very caring. We discussed at length whether there was something missing but honestly could not find anything! Sorry for that. It is simply all there.
Huizing,  The Walnut Tree,  Jul 2009

We had a fantastic time, the villa was great, extremely well equipped and pleasant to live in. The pool provided hours of fun for big and smalls, the terrace was great for all meals and the views and location were excellent. Spiros was most helpful (on several occasions, he came very shortly after we reported an incident) and charming. We did lots of excursions around Sami including the day trip to Ithaca. Kefalonia is truly an amazing island and is definitely worth visiting. After The Walnut Tree, we rented 2 apartments on Ithaca (in Kuoni) for 4 nights and spent one day in Delphi and returned to Athens on Saturday. All on all, we had a great holiday and will definitely recommend your villa to friends and family. I also need to thank you for your help with booking the different steps of our trip. It was really appreciated.

I'd just like to say we had a fabulous time! The villa was perfect and the kids LOVED the pool! Only rained one day (sadly the last day!) Otherwise gorgeous weather as well.
Caroline Presland,  UK,  Sep 2010

You have provided us with an excellent and memorable holiday at the WT and we are all hugely grateful. All expectations were wildly exceeded for all 3 generations and our only big mistake, huge mistake was to book it for just one week. Like dry martinis, WT is best taken in plural quantities.
