Exterior Details |
The front garden is for your exclusive use, with a table and chairs under the walnut tree. The outdoor heated pool (32' x 16') and play area in the walled garden are shared with the other self-catering cottages. The farm encompasses a pond, an old orchard, several fields, beech and horse chestnut trees and in summer there are often new born calves. Children are welcome to feed the chickens and collect eggs from the chicken house. The River Brue runs through the fields behind Clanville Manor – bring a pair of Wellington boots, or borrow a pair from the house, so that you can enjoy walking and picnicking along its banks. If you are lucky you may see one of the resident kingfishers, or a badger as it plays on the river bank.

Clanville Manor is a beautiful, well-maintained pocket Georgian country house in a fascinating area of Somerset. It looks out into its own farmland and lovely views on all sides; at night all is quiet, and though the market town of Castle Cary is close by there are so few streetlights that the stars look three times brighter than they do in any city.
The rooms are gracious in proportion and unobtrusively well-decorated and equipped throughout.
