Romantic Getaways in Scotland | One Off Places
Scotland is a country of breathtaking landscapes, rugged coastlines, enchanting castles, and secluded hideaways, making it the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. Whether you dream of cosying up by a roaring fire in a remote cabin, stargazing from the comfort of a steaming hot tub, or exploring dramatic highland scenery hand in hand, Scotland offers a wealth of unforgettable romantic getaways.
Stargazing and the Northern Lights
Roulotte Retreat, Scottish Borders, each roulotte sleeps 2
One of Scotland’s most romantic natural wonders is the chance of seeing the Northern Lights, and remote locations (most notably of the Highlands and islands) make Scotland one of the best places in the UK to witness this phenomenon. Even if the Northern Lights don’t make an appearance, the dark skies (and specifically nominated dark sky reserves) provide incredible stargazing opportunities, and what would be more romantic, than cuddling up under a blanket, or in a hot tub, and marvelling at the night sky together.
Explore our Scottish Northern Lights breaks.
We have many One Off Places which fit the stargazing bill, and one such place is the delightful Roulotte Retreat - a cluster of handcrafted Romany-style caravans set in a meadow in the Scottish Borders. An enchanting getaway, the roulottes have chic interiors and are all individually designed, some have deep copper wood fired hot tubs, outdoor baths or saunas; it’s the ultimate place for being amongst nature - birdwatching, painting, reading, writing, cycling, exploring the local landscapes. And what is more, the dark skies here make for brilliant stargazing.
