General Info

This region of Poland can feel like stepping back in time and is a wonderful place for some slow and mindful nature explorations.  Most of the forests are freely accessible to all - no fences or private land signs.  Enjoy foraging, exploring and going in search of the local wildlife - storks nest on village lamp posts and it’s not uncommon to spot moose, lynx, wild boar, beavers, deer, and even wolves.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

On the outskirts of the South Roztocze Landscape Park, the Hut is in a beautiful secluded setting on the edge of a village in a region rich with natural and cultural heritage. Werchrata village is in the heart of Roztocze, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve known for its forests, marshes, and miles of walking and cycling trails.  It’s a peaceful village, with a beautiful old church.  The spa town of Horyniec-Zdrój is nearby, famed for its mineral rich healing waters.  The Roztocze National Park on your doorstep is home to wild horses and pristine woodland.  The surrounding forests are dotted with WWII era bunkers which are fascinating to explore, and the rivers Solokija and Tanew are ideal for kayaking adventures.  Visit Radruz, home to a 16th century wooden Orthodox church which is now a UNESCO world heritage site, or head 50km to the Renaissance city (and UNESCO site) of Zamosk.
