This tastefully furnished and exquisitely decorated house offers tranquil accommodation just 300 metres from the beach. Peaceful pastel colours and typical Ile de Ré charm make this a uniquely stylish and spacious holiday home, and La Couarde, with its typical flowered and narrow streets, is a colourful resort with a village atmosphere. Enjoy breakfast croissants on the patio, unwind with a glass of wine on the deck terrace, or hire a bike and discover the many treasures of this stunning (and largely car-free) island.
La Couarde-sur-Mer is very family-oriented village and an excellent base for exploring the rest of the island. There are lots of bike rental outfits nearby. Saint-Martin is approximately 20-25 minutes by bike along a very pleasant coastal path. By car, the trip takes about 5 minutes. La Couarde, an authentic Ile de Ré village on the south coast of the island, and on your doorstep you will find golden beaches, restaurants and boutiques, a lovely church and a delightful bandstand where concerts are still held in the summer. Altogether, there are 10 pretty villages on the Ile de Ré, all of which can be explored by bike. Over 60 miles of bike paths will take you across the island, through vineyards and fields of potatoes, and along invigorating coastal routes, with views of the salt marshes and open sea. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy windsurfing, kite-surfing, catamaran, jet ski and boating (tuition and hire are available in season), and further afield, you might like to spend a day exploring historic La Rochelle and Rochefort. The Aquarium in La Rochelle is well worth a visit.
Getting There:
The house is a short car / taxi journey from La Rochelle which has an airport & a train station. For those who don't want to fly, you can reach La Couarde-sur-Mer in approximately 9 hours from London by taking the Eurostar to Paris, the TGV to La Rochelle, and a bus or taxi to the island.

Interior Details
The house is set on two levels, with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom/WC on each floor. Downstairs, the kitchen, lounge and 2 bedrooms all have French windows onto a patio area and a deck terrace, and the house is kitted out with various mod cons including a TV/DVD player, WiFi, a Nespresso coffee machine. Bed linen, towels and beach towels are provided, and a cot and highchair are available.
Exterior Details
The house has a patio area and a deck terrace, both of which are fully enclosed, providing a safe environment for children. Outside you will find garden furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining.
Conditions of Rental
To secure a reservation, a 25% deposit is required, payable online (Mastercard or Visa). The balance is due 12 weeks before your arrival. The price includes bed linen, towels, beach towels, baby equipment, WiFi and electricity. No smoking & no pets.
