One-Off Feature

One of three gites in a beautifully restored 16th century farmhouse next to the hilltop village of Lussan in the heart of the Gard Provencal.  It’s an ideal place to gather with friends and family; the three gites can sleep up to twelve people in total and share large grounds and a swimming pool.  Or book one gite as a base for exploring medieval villages and the French countryside.  This property is part of our holidays in France collection of unique and unusual places to stay. 

General Info

Mas de la Bousquette is an ideal gathering place for groups as it has several large dining rooms and shared spaces, as well as private spaces to retreat to.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The Mas is next to the pretty hilltop village of Lussan, one of the ‘Plus Beaux Villages de France’.  The nearest town of Uzes dates back to medieval times.  The Saturday morning market in Uzes is very well known, and heaven for foodies.  The gites are within an easy drive of Nimes, Montpelier, Marseille and Avignon.  The Mediterranean Coast is about 80 minutes by car.    For outdoor enthusiasts you’ll find biking, hiking, swimming and canoeing galore - the Cevennes and the Ardeche are both nearby, ideal for outdoor activities, and there are biking and hiking trails directly from your door.  History buffs will enjoy all the Roman antiquities which the Gard region has to offer, from the Pont du Gard (20 mins drive) to the Arenas of Nimes; there is no shortage of monuments and museums to visit.  There are also fabulous vineyards to visit, potteries, galleries and workshops throughout the area.  Restaurants within walking distance plus many more just a short drive away.

Accommodation Details

Interior Details
The charm and character of the Mas buildings has been beautifully preserved - each gite has its own Gard style, with exposed stone walls, terracotta floors, wooden beams and vaulted ceilings.  They are all furnished with high quality bed and linen, fully equipped kitchens, a selection of books and games, bathrobes, local toiletries, bluetooth speakers and wifi throughout.  La Bergerie is a vaulted stone former sheepfold, now a bright and spacious open plan apartment for two.  The living and dining area is spacious, with two sofa beds which can accommodate one adult each.  The kitchen area is fully equipped with a built-in oven, hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and a dining table seating up to six.  The south facing bedroom faces onto the pool garden and has a queen sized bed, and there is an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and walk in shower.

 

Exterior Details
La Bergerie has a private gated courtyard with sunbeds and a dining table and a view of the pool garden.  The large gardens and grounds (shared by the three gites) have plenty of places for relaxing.  There is an 11m pool surrounded by deckchairs, seats and umbrellas, as well as a dining area under a pergola.  There is a shady petanque court, and nearby, the Safraniere, where the owners grow, harvest and dry saffron flowers on site.

 

Conditions of Rental
The Bergerie has a minimum 4 night stay (flexible changeover day).  The Grenier & The Murier has a min 7 night stay in high season (Saturday to Saturday).  Shorter stays available in quieter periods.  Children over 16 are welcome.  Younger children are accepted when all three gites are booked together.  Dogs are welcome.  Charcuterie / cheese board or picnic baskets available on request.  Fresh bread delivered daily to order.  Simple bikes are available to borrow, though people may wish to bring their own.
