Heading towards the coast, the historic village of Alnmouth (1 mile) is known for its lovely secluded beach, its stunning 18-hole golf course and The Ferryman’s Hut – a popular museum situated by the harbour. The area is perfect for birdwatchers and nature spotters, with boat trips available from nearby Amble (6 miles) out to see the puffin and seal colonies of Coquet Island. Other local landmarks and attractions include the Alnwick Garden, Alnwick Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Northumberland Zoo and Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum, all within 14 miles.
