General Info
This modern stone-built cottage offers the perfect base for a countryside getaway, with sweeping rural views across the beautiful County Durham landscape. Four-legged friends are welcome, too, making this an ideal spot for dog-loving families. You’ll be on the edge of Crook, known as the gateway to Weardale, a pretty market town with a designated conservation area, plenty of shops and a weekly market where you can pick up local produce. If you’re here for the hikes, the wild and peaceful moors of Weardale are just 13 miles away – part of the stunning North Pennines National Landscape. For a day of history and sightseeing, Durham Castle (12 miles) is a must – this impressive fortress sits at the heart of the city's World Heritage Site. After soaking up the history, enjoy an easy riverside stroll and have a browse of Durham’s excellent shops and cafés.
This quirky cottage has an upside-down layout. Step inside and kick off your shoes in the entrance hall before heading up the gorgeous wooden staircase to the open-plan living space. Here, the lounge, kitchen, and dining area all sit beneath a striking apex roof, creating a light and spacious setting for spending leisurely evenings together. Cook up a storm in the fully equipped kitchen, which has elegant rounded corners and a handy breakfast bar for casual bites. After busy days exploring, curl up on the reclining armchairs or sofa and settle in for a film night. On the downstairs layer is a cosy double bedroom and a cheerful twin room, along with a sleek bathroom with a bath, walk-in shower and WC.
Directly outside is a bistro set ideal for quick morning coffees with a view. A little further away, across the pathway, is a delightful decked area surrounded by grass, furnished with a table and chairs so you can plan al fresco meals.
