General Info
A beautiful Georgian, Grade II listed property with a very rich history, set on a working farm in the pretty hamlet of Painscastle. The adjoining grounds even have their own old castle ruins. Walking distance to the excellent village pub and why not visit the local Rhosgoch Golf Club just 2 miles away for a luncheon and around of Golf. For the more energetic why not try tackling the Begwyns, 580 acres of National Trust hills and rolling landscape with breath-taking views across The Brecon Beacon National Park. The Beacons and River Wye have a number of activity providers, offering canoe hire, high rope courses and gorge walking. Hay-on-Wye, just a short drive away, is renowned for its International Book Festival, with plenty of second-hand bookshops, an art house cinema and independent shops, as well as The Globe at Hay. Bryngwyn Riding Centre, a short drive and the Royal Welsh Showground slightly further afield. (Please check admittance for the various attractions).

Enter this imposing detached residence into the hallway. To the left is the large lounge with a warming open fire, high ceilings, comfortable sofas and a Smart TV. Perfect for large family gatherings where you can chat about the day’s events. Further along there is a handy snug, with Smart TV, seating, board games and a lovely wood burner. Also, on this floor there is a single bedroom, a shower room with shower and WC and a utility room with washing machine and heated airer. Back along the hallway is the formal dining room, which is delightful, with ample seating and a feature fireplace. Down a couple of steps to the lower ground floor is the stunning kitchen with an electric Range oven and hob, American style fridge/freezer, microwave, a Dolce Gusto coffee machine and dishwasher. There are stairs from the kitchen to a wonderful first floor master bedroom with king-size bed, far-reaching rural views and an en-suite shower room and WC. The remaining first floor sleeping accommodation is accessed via a staircase from the main hallway. There is a large king-size bedroom, again with beautiful views, which benefits from an en-suite bathroom, down a couple steps, with hand-held shower over bath and WC. There is also a pretty single bedroom and two super king-size zip-and-link bedrooms (which can both be made up as a twin on request), one of which has an en-suite shower room and WC. This floor also benefits from a bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC. The second floor has a fantastic, non-regular, staircase which continues the theme of period features and leads to a twin bedroom with sleigh beds, a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom. These rooms do have sloped ceilings, beams and areas of restricted height but are great for younger party members and add greatly to the overall charm of the building. There is a handy shower room with shower and WC to service the second floor.

Outside there are extensive grounds, offering a beautiful environment to relax in. There is your own private hot tub on the patio with gazebo and picturesque sitting areas to enjoy the super views. There is also a charcoal BBQ with starter pack and a fire pit. The working farm backs onto an ancient castle, which you are also able to access. There is also a games room with table tennis, a shuffleboard and a full sized pool table and off-road parking for five cars in the yard.
