General Info
Just 3 miles from Cheddar Gorge, 8 miles from Wells and 10 miles from Glastonbury, the village of Wedmore is perfectly placed within the beautiful county of Somerset. Tucked between the Mendip Hills and the Somerset Levels, the surrounding area is an absolute joy for those who enjoy outdoor activity, with two nature reserves nearby, as well as the River Axe and River Brue, the Mendip Hills, and Levels offering many trails and tracks for both walking and cycling.
Formerly the village chemist, Apothecary Cottage has been lovingly transformed into a stylish bolthole for two, where vintage elegance meets modern comfort. Step inside and you're greeted by a moody palette of soft greys and inky blacks. Antiques like old medicine bottles and ornate mirrors nod to the building’s storied past, while clever lighting and curated décor add a dash of Victorian drama. A woodburner flickers in the corner, inviting you to unwind on the plush vintage sofa after a day of exploring.
Being a period property, the cottage though small, has now been cleverly redesigned with an open-plan living space that flows into a charming kitchen, kitted out with everything you need. Handcrafted wooden worktops, elegant tableware, and a dining nook for two, sets the mood for an intimate breakfast or a candlelit dinner. Up the ornate spiral staircase, the bedroom lies beneath vaulted ceilings and beams. A supremely comfy king-size bed promises lazy mornings and peaceful nights, with views stretching out over rooftops to the distant Mendip Hills. This room has its own en suite with a spacious walk-in shower. Outside, a pretty courtyard garden offers a private spot to enjoy your morning coffee as you plan the day's excursions.
A beautifully preserved market village dating back to the Medieval period, those who are familiar with its cottage-lined streets, delis, antique shops and boutiques, will tell you it’s a special place indeed. The village centre itself is just a short stroll from Apothecary Cottage and here you'll find two fabulous places to eat - The George Inn and The Swan. For its countryside location, Wedmore is surprisingly close to the coast, with beaches like Brean, Berrow and Weston-Super-Mare being about a 20 to 30 minute drive away.
Whilst the property is pet friendly, the courtyard garden is not fully enclosed so dogs will need to be kept on leads.
