Off-Grid Holidays on a Budget | One Off Places
In this blog, we have chosen two of our favourite UK accommodation options for anyone in search of a budget break with an eco-angle. Low price for couples, friends and family who want a digital detox and don’t want to break the bank.
Dalarwen in Camarthenshire, Wales
Tucked into a south-facing hillside in the foothills of the Cambrian mountains, with conifer and oak woodland behind it and the calming waters of Llyn Brianne reservoir to the front, Dalarwen is a pretty, peaceful and utterly idyllic Welsh hideaway. Perfect for wildlife enthusiasts and lovers of the great outdoors. Sleeps nine in four bedrooms.
Brandy Head Observation Post, Devon
For more than 80 years, Brandy Head Observation Post has stood sentinel over the cliffs at Stantyway Farm near Otterton in South Devon. It has now been converted into a simple but stunning and remote place to stay for up to six people, and sits right on the south west coast path. Sleeps six in two bedrooms (one double and one with two sets of bunk beds).
The chosen properties aren't connected to mains electricity or gas, nor do they have wifi, but all are cosy, warm and comfortable, with electricity generated by solar panels and heating generated by wood burning stoves.
