One of our absolute favourite One Off Places in Devon, this blog post features The Lookout Tower, a unique holiday rental located in an outstanding location overlooking the dramatic seascape of the East Devon coastline.  It is very different to most average coastal holiday cottages in Devon!

Have you ever been to – or through –Suffolk?  The answer might be ‘yes, but just to the coast’ or as far as Flatford Mill on the River Stour (border country between Suffolk and Essex, made famous by Constable’s Haywain picture).  More often the response is ‘no’ because it is simply not en route to anywhere other than Norfolk, and most people go there the quick way via Cambridgeshire!

Your honeymoon is the most exciting holiday of your life. It may be the only holiday you ever go on where it is allowed, and more so encouraged, that you raise the bar on your budget and treat yourself to the best luxury and extravagance that money can buy. It is the holiday that seals the deal on your wedding and is when your life together begins. 

It wasn’t long after turning off the M6 that familiar cityscapes turned to patchwork-quilt fields, wide valley floors, quaint villages with thriving pubs and fields of bleating lambs.  Criss-crossing from the Staffordshire Moors into the Derbyshire Dales looked literally taken from a film set:  it’s no wonder the landscape was chosen as the filming location for Peak Practice, a popular, nineties TV Drama. The series was based in the village of Longnor, our home for a few days’ walking based from Jack’s Cottage. 

Suffolk isn’t as sleepy as it looks from the outside. Luckily, based here at Woodfarm Barns and Barges, in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, we get to experience all of this county’s vast history, unique quirks and breathtaking beauty on our very own doorstep.
