A stylish French hideaway. This recycled wooden chalet is exceptionally situated in one of the most scenic spots in Finistere, Brittany. Nestled in idyllic natural surroundings with wide open river views, high quality furnishings mix with simple luxuries to provide the ultimate cosy escape. Two kayaks are also available for those who want to fish, or explore the river.
The interior of the chalet has been renovated with care and attention to detail, and is furnished to a high standard to provide a cosy home away from home, and a unique rural retreat which feels a world away from modern stresses. Relax in comfort in front of the log fire and watch the river drift by through the panoramic windows. In our aim to provide a natural retreat without compromising on comfort, we have made some conscious choices. This has been to encourage the heating of the chalet by the highly efficient log burning fire for which we provide ample logs (there are however electric radiators as a backup). There is a hifi (mp3 compatible) DVD player and LCD screen (a selection of DVDs provided), but no TV.
Set in the Parc Regional d'Armorique, the chalet is on a protected piece of coastline, nestled amidst classified woodland, and a protected site for birds. Directly from the chalet you can walk the footpaths and explore by boat the waterfront restaurants, villages and oyster farms. You are very well placed to make the most of the numerous attractions this area has to offer. The superb white sandy beaches and stunning coastline of the Crozon Peninsula are just a short drive. For supplies, the village of Rosnoen (2 miles) has a well stocked shop and Le Faou with its supermarket, shops and restaurants is only 5 miles away. The seaside towns of Morgat and Camaret are easily accessible. Slightly further afield are the medieval towns of Locronan and cathedral city of Quimper, numerous military sites and the ancient abbey at Landevennec.
This villa in Brittany is situated midway between Brest and Quimper and only 8kms from the dual carriageway, the chalet is about 30 minutes from Brest Airport with good links with Flybe to Birmingham, Southampton, Manchester and Exeter, and Ryanair flights to Luton airport. Roscoff is a little less than an hour’s drive away for ferry crossings to Plymouth, and St Malo just over 2 hours for crossings to Portsmouth. The chalet is accessed by a good quality but untarmaced road that descends to the river. Then within the property there is a short, steep drive to the chalet.

The ground floor has an open plan sitting / dining room - with log burning fire. The large picture windows give out onto the view. DVD player LCD screen and hi-fi. Dining table with seating for 6 people. Kitchen area - is set off this room and is hand built in painted wood with zinc work surfaces and has top quality appliances. There are two bathrooms and WCs on this floor – one with large walk-in shower and the other with bath / shower. There’s also a utility room with washing machine. The first floor is accessed by a fairly steep staircase. There are three bedrooms, one with kingsize double bed and French doors opening onto a small balcony, one with a standard double bed and one twin room. A travel cot is also provided. The bedrooms all have natural flooring, white cotton bedlinen and duvets. An extra-bed can host one more person on the ground floor, or one having difficulties with the stairs.
The chalet comes with two kayaks for exploring the river. A small aluminium fishing boat can also be hired subject to the relevant experience. A large wooden deck gives onto the view, an outdoor space where you can make the most of the sunshine and settle into the peace and total serenity of this stunning spot. The large 5 acre woodland garden is yours for exploring, there are winding footpaths and terraces, an apple orchard, and a tennis court, if you don't mind eccentric tennis. Please note the drive to the chalet is fairly steep, but you can park at the bottom inside of the gates.
In 1968, a French couple were granted experimental planning permission to build a 'low-impact' wooden chalet on the banks of the River Aulne, at the entrance to the Crozon Peninsula, making a change from the standard villa in Brittany. Three months later, the entire area was designated a natural park of special interest, and it is now the 2nd largest natural park in France. From this point on, no further construction whatsoever was permitted in this area. Ty Anna is therefore unique in its location, and offers complete tranquillity. Set in its own 5 acre woodland park with winding footpaths, flowers and trees, the views from the chalet across the wide, tidal river are sublime and you are totally immersed in nature. The nearest village and local shop is 3km away, and Le Faou only 7km so you are also very well placed for exploring and local amenities.
