Located on the east side of the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, the luxurious Lewis Longhouse sits close to the beach in an area of peaceful, natural beauty. With stunning interiors, uninterrupted views and huge windows that bring the outdoors in, this is a very special place in which to escape and relax, any time of year.
The longhouse sits on a croft which has been in the owners family for generations and in 2013, they finished building this new house so that everyone could enjoy a genuine home-from-home experience in exceptional surroundings. The building has an unquestionably luxurious and contemporary design, and yet it is clear that sustainability, energy-conscious technology and the local environment were at the forefront of the building approach. In an ideal location to explore the island, the house is set low on the hillside with views in every direction. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows watch the weather change throughout the day, soak up the views south towards Broadbay, and watch the stunning arc of the sun, rising in the east over the bay and setting in the west over the moors.
Lewis is a truly magical place with much to see and do, whether you want to relax or get active. The island is famous for archaeological treasures such as Callanish Stones, Dun Carloway Broch, the Norse mill house, traditional black houses and ancient villages and the Lewis Chessmen and the Hebridean Islands are also rich in culture and social history. Lewis has some of the best walks in the world if you want to explore spectacular natural features along coastline, beach or moor, and the island is also perfect for cyclists, water sports enthusiasts and fishermen. Wildlife lovers will be in heaven, with everything from birds to dolphins thriving in their natural habitat, or you could spend your days wandering around Stornoway harbour, shopping for Harris tweed, walking in Lews Castle Grounds, picnicking on empty beaches, and savouring the fare from local eateries.

With its double-height living area, two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, relaxation area with balcony and office zone, this is a house with serious style and space credentials. Downstairs, the open plan living/dining/kitchen area has large windows and glass doors that seamlessly connect inside with out. In the centre of the kitchen/dining area stands an island unit with a unique worktop hand-crafted from local, storm-felled beech trees and the kitchen area is well stocked with everything from a dishwasher to a wine chiller to make eating in a pleasure. Bedrooms face south to make the most of the views - the master suite has a super king bed and a wet-room style en-suite and the second bedroom (super king or twin) sits across from a bathroom with a separate bath and shower. Under floor heating keeps oak floors warm underfoot, a multi-fuel stove keeps you cosy even in the wildest weather, and the house is equipped with broadband and WiFi as well as LCD smart TV and music systems.
The house sits in a near half acre plot with a large deck to front, facing the bay and garden(lawned) area right around. BBQ facility. Beach is about 100 yards away. The glass doors from the living area open south onto the large deck, perfect for relaxing on sunny days or for stargazing at night. Step outdoors and within moments you will be walking on the shore listening to the hypnotic sound of the waves.
Perfect any time of year, for couples of families, whatever the weather. There is a utility/boot room by the entrance lobby and the garage has plenty of hanging space and storage for wet outdoor gear.
