A delightful shepherd`s hut in north Brecon with glorious views across the fields towards the Epynt Mountain and the valley below. Named after the Welsh word for retreat or sanctuary, a stay here is a wonderful escape for two.
A stay in Noddfa Shepherd`s Hut gives you the chance for some great bird and wildlife watching - there are wild hares in the meadows and a large variety of birds including cuckoos and red kites. The Heart of Wales Railway line - a picturesque and old fashioned slow line, passes through the nearby village and you can raise your hand to stop the train. The nearby village of Cilmery has an excellent pub, The Prince Llewelyn.
There is masses to do in the surrounding area. It’s wonderful walking country, or you can bring mountain bikes and enjoy the wealth of bike trails. The Elan Valley is just a few miles away with its scenic drives. Only 10 minutes from Builth Wells and 15 minutes from Llanwrtyd Wells. This part of Mid Wales is quite "undiscovered and pretty remote" and a truly peaceful place to be. You are just a 30 minute drive from the central Brecon Beacons, and 30 mins drive from Hay on Wye.
Directions provided on booking.
Pub in Cilmery
Noddfa has been built to a very high spec by its textile designer and yoga teacher owners - every small detail has been thought of. It is clad in cedar and insulated by sheep wool, and has excellent quality fixtures and fittings. And spacious with it - 18ft long and with an ensuite shower room and loo. It can be made up for couples with a king sized bed, or as two single beds. High quality bedding and cosy rugs on the floor. There is a pull out table and chairs and a compact but well equipped kitchen unit with microwave / oven and a hob, as well as a good sized fridge with freezer box. There are two comfy chairs and a little wood burning stove. There is also excellent electric heating if you do not want to light the fire.
Outside your own private balcony - a peaceful place to sit and enjoy the views. There is a gas bbq and a fire bowl for your use. The surrounding garden is designed to attract pollinators and birds. Recent sightings include barn owls, redstarts, redpolls, tree-creepers, nuthatches, woodpeckers and yellowhammers - a few of the more unusual birds. On clear nights the starscapes are amazing!
Linen and towels and electric central heating included in the price. Sorry, no pets. The owners live in a very beautiful traditional welsh longhouse behind the shepherd's hut and there is a long barn where on discussion private Yoga classes or creative textile workshops can be arranged. You will get a warm welcome, but you will be left alone to enjoy your holiday, to unwind and recharge your batteries with nature surrounding you.
