Uniquely combining vintage chic with modern comfort, this characterful travelling wagon offers a cosy, stylish and romantic little bolthole in the heart of leafy north London, a short distance from inner London's many and varied attractions. It’s definitely one of a kind. Featured in The Saturday Times Travel Tips, October 2018.
Whether you’re looking to escape on your own or create magical memories with the one you love, Travellers’ Joy is the perfect setting. It is something of a 'rus in urbe' - an illusion of countryside running through the heart of the city - a shepherd`s hut / travelling van with a romantic gypsy theme. Its original art and pottery, handloom fabrics, authentic Romany decorations and genuine London tube luggage-rack give it an inimitable atmosphere, the furniture is cleverly arranged to provide the utmost comfort and practicality, and the location, not far from vibrant Camden, is wonderful. If you’re planning a weekend in London and want to do it in one-off style then look no further.
Trendy Tufnell Park is convenient for Camden Market, Hampstead and Highgate, as well as being a stone’s throw from places like the British Museum in Bloomsbury. Within walking distance there are numerous restaurants, cafes, delis, butchers, bakeries and independent boutiques, and the nearby buses and tubes will take you into the theatres and sights of central London in a flash.
The nearest tube station, Tufnell Park, is a 2 minute walk away and the location is private but easy to find. On street parking is free at weekends, payable Mon-Fri 8.30am-6.30pm.

Inside the van is decorated with hand-painted iron-work, cream-washed wooden panelling and pine floorboards, and it has everything you could need for a relaxing and self-contained stay. The double bed is extremely comfortable and converts into a sofa by day, there’s a fold-out dining table which doubles up as a well-lit work space, and the galley kitchen has everything from a fridge and oven to a cotton table cloth and napkins. The en-suite bathroom (with proper flushing loo) is fitted with a full-height galvanised steel shower-pod.
The van is set within a flowery yard and it has its own outside space with a table, chairs and a bench. Fairy-lights illuminate the yard year-round.
