Perfect for guests attending a wedding at the neighbouring Tithe Barn, this well-loved property is a great holiday destination all the year round.

General Info

This property is located in the very heart of Symondsbury village. It hardly takes guests any time at all to reach the local shops, salon and village cafe and the excellent Ilchester Arms pub is only a few minutes’ walk away. This is an ideal location for anyone attending a wedding at the Tithe Barn which lies only a few yards away and the stress of travel to and from the big wedding day can be utterly removed. Close friends and family of the happy couple should take the chance to treat themselves by combining their attendance with the ideal short break in these exquisite surroundings. Most importantly, the location itself gives guests the best of both worlds. Symondsbury Estate lies close to the breath-taking Jurassic Coastline with its amazing beaches as well as the stunning natural beauty of the Dorset countryside. It only takes a few miles of walking along the spectacular coastal paths and countryside to visit these places and enjoy them for the day. There’s plenty of activities on the historic Symondsbury Estate itself and there are plenty of good walks in this coastal location with the best natural scenery a holiday can offer.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Set amongst pasture and ancient woodland in rural Dorset, Symondsbury Estate is within walking distance of beautiful, untouched beaches. Owned by the Colfox family for over a hundred years and with buildings dating back to the fifteenth century, Symondsbury Estate is near to the Jurassic coast and to so many amazing beaches that you will be spoilt for choice. A short, half hour walk takes visitors to the top of Colmer hill to enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the sea and rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of a buzzard overhead. There are plenty of other routes and historic paths over the estate and bicycles can be hired for this purpose.

Animal lovers will be thrilled to meet the animals in a viewing area where Black pigs, Pygmy goats and the ever-friendly Minty the sheep are a delight to all children as well as their parents. Symondsbury Estate’s garden provides fresh, organic produce for the Symondsbury Kitchen all year round and some of these delicious items such as jams, marmalades, cheeses, beers, and gins can be purchased by guests. Horse and Carriage rides are available for a leisurely tour of the area and for the more adventurous there are even survival courses on offer which teach key survival skills delivered by experienced and knowledgeable trainers. There are one-day taster courses on offer for the bold and four-day courses for the even bolder!

Guests can take short trip to the village of Bridport which is only a few minutes’ drive away and find several restaurants as well as a vintage market and a museum. There’s a Waitrose in Bridport for any last-minute home comforts, but you’re likely to have everything you could want for your holiday on Symondsbury Estate itself.
