One-Off Feature

A beautiful six bedroom stone barn near the Welsh town of Abergavenny, set high up on a hillside near the Offa’s Dyke Path.  It has been converted into a family friendly, luxurious house and is a perfect choice for a long weekend or holiday with friends or family.

General Info

The barn is remote and secluded and set on the site of Hatterell Hill with wonderful views over the valleys below.  It is five miles from Abergavenny and 15 miles from Hereford.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

This part of the world is teeming with activities for all the family, especially for those who are lovers of the great outdoors.  The vale of Ewas is a wonderful location for walkers, with Offa's Dyke footpath only a mile or so away and many other footpaths including one across Hatterell Hill to the Llanthony Valley, where you can visit the famous ruins of  Llanthony Priory. Various riding centres offer pony trekking and as well as other outdoor activities.  The local area has a wealth of interesting places to visit, excellent gastro-pubs and michelin starred restaurants, with the annual Abergavenny Food Festival in September as well as local food shops and the excellent Farmer's Market.

Interior Details

The barn can sleep up to 11 people in 6 bedrooms.  The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped including dishwasher, electric range and double oven.  There is a dining table and chairs to seat 12, stone floor and great light throughout.   French doors lead to the terrace.  There is a playroom with large flat screen Sky TV, books and games.  The carpeted sitting room is comfortable and cosy, with large bookcases and an open fire.  French doors to a sheltered sunny courtyard.  There are two staircases to the first floor with 2 bedrooms on one side and 4 on the other.  Two super king zip and link beds (so can be made into twins).  A family bathroom with a clawfoot bath.  The four further bedrooms are made up of one master double ensuite with french doors to a private terrace.  Off this room there is a children’s room with cot and single bed.  Then there is a further superking and a twin room.

Exterior Details

There are several terraces and large lawns for your use.  A sunny courtyard with a BBQ and table tennis, and a play area with trampoline and swingball.


Bedlinen and towels provided.   Heating included, and wood for the fire.    Trampoline for children (under supervision and at own risk).  Cot and highchair.  Variable mobile reception.  Wifi included.  Between October and April it is strongly recommended that access should be with a 4WD or a large heavy car as the track can get very muddy during the winter.  Refundable security deposit of £250 payable on booking.
