Standing majestically over the picturesque village of Taynuilt is Springbank, an imposing Victorian house with stylish rooms, mature gardens and lovely views towards Loch Etive. Where better for a peaceful holiday in the Scottish Highlands?
Dating back to 1885, Springbank is full of character and original features, but it has been fully refurbished to become a luxurious home-from-home with all the mod cons. The décor is simple yet tasteful with distinctive pieces like a roll top bath and an open fire, the sloping grounds are beautifully maintained, and the house’s setting, with Ben Cruachan at its back and numerous walking and cycling routes from the doorstep, is scenic and tranquil. This is the perfect base for relaxation and outdoor pursuits with friends and family.
The house is situated in the popular village of Taynuilt, where you will find a butcher, a post office, a general store, a charming tea room and a railway station, not to mention an annual Highland Games summer event. There are excellent walking and mountain bike trails, not least around Ben Cruachan and Loch Erive, or activities like climbing, fishing and kayaking are available. Or you could visit the wonderful Glen Nant nature reserve, just a mile away, or the lovely town of Oban, known not only as the seafood capital of Scotland but also as the gateway to the islands.
Springbank is located on the B845 (signposted to Kilchrenan), just off the main A85 road. Follow the B845 up the hill, taking care with the sharp hairpin bend. Springbank is the first house on the right hand side. The entrance to the driveway is between two stone pillars. There are trains from Glasgow to Taynuilt station. The journey takes a little under three hours, with spectacular scenery along the way. Springbank is about 10 minutes’ walk from the station.
