Set in its own private garden and overlooking a lake, La Maison des Vignes is a detached stone country house where you can enjoy peace, privacy, wildlife and authentic French culture.
With its original oak beams and stone walls, the house is full of charm and character, but it has also been sensitively updated to provide everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. The garden is the perfect space in which to enjoy outdoor living (especially at night when the pollution-free night sky is truly magnificent), it’s a short cycle or drive to the nearest boulangerie and tabac, and the surrounding area is teeming with activities and attractions, whether you want to stroll around, get active or learn about local culture. This is rural France at its best.
The nearest depot de pain is within cycling distance, or it is a short drive to the village of Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre, home to a boulangerie, a restaurant, a grocery shop, a tabac, a butcher, a pharmacy and a variety of other small shops. Outdoor pursuits are in plentiful supply, from cycling, walking, golfing and horse-riding to fishing, water sports and zip wiring. Alternatively you could spend your days wandering around vineyards, lying on lake beaches, visiting local markets and exploring towns like La Châtre, Boussac and Aubusson.

Interior Details
The ground floor of the house consists of a large kitchen/diner, a living room with TV, board games and books, and a shower room/toilet/laundry room. A steep wooden staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find two bedrooms, a double and a twin. The house has wifi throughout. You will be greeted by a luxury welcome basket filled with bread, croissants and sparkling wine (for stays of 7 nights or longer). For our vegan guests, we also offer a vegan-friendly Luxury Welcome Basket - just let us know if you require the vegan option when booking. The hangar in the grounds is home to a ping pong table and a foosball table.
Exterior Details
The private garden surrounds the house and you can spend your days al fresco, watching wildlife from the edge of the lake, taking a siesta under the parasol or dining under the stars. Golden orioles, buzzards, pine martens, herons, woodpeckers and deer are just some of the birds and animals that have been seen here. The hangar in the garden is home to a pingpong and foosball table. A BBQ is also available for your use.
Conditions of Rental
Minimum stay is 7 nights in peak season and 3 nights in mid-season. Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am. No charging of electric vehicles - this is not covered by our insurance and there is no electricity near the parking space. There are charging points nearby in Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre and La Châtre.
