One-Off Feature

Deep within unspoilt countryside, surrounded by wild orchids, fragrant herbs and the hypnotic soundtrack of owls calling and crickets chirring, you will find Sitio do Lago, an family friendly Portuguese retreat with its own 1500m private spring fed lake and a swimming pool.  There are two apartments, each of which can sleep 4, and an additional double bedroom for larger groups. The perfect place to get away from it all.

General Info

Sitio do Lago is a 100 year old estate about half an hour from Faro airport and within its grounds are two simple yet stylish guest apartments. On the property there is a beautiful spring-fed lake, not to mention a swimming pool and a variety of terraces and outdoor spaces, and the countryside immediately surrounding the estate is full of fig, olive, carob, almond, plum, orange, lemon, cork and holm-oak trees. And nearby there are dirt roads and mountain caves to explore, as well as picturesque villages, historic cities and sandy beaches. Easy to reach and yet a world away from real life, Sitio do Lago is a very special little spot.  For those with younger children, for €30 you can pre-book a `baby pack`which includes cot, bedding, various types of baby hammocks, jumperoo, towels, bath, high chair, step up stool, safety gates and play mats, and 1 load of laundry washed, dried and folded is included. 

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The surrounding countryside is part of the “Fonte da Benemola” nature reserve and as such it is full of springs, caves, hidden tracks and mountain views just waiting to be explored. The nearby town of Loule offers supermarkets, restaurants and a variety of amenities, as well as a wonderful Saturday farmers’ market, and the pretty villages of Querenca and Salir are just 5km away. If you want to embark on a proper day trip then head for Sagres, Lagos or Cape Saint Vincent, or you could visit the charming town of Tavira and the deserted beaches of Tavira Island. Whether you want to hike through the hills, head for the seaside, play a round of golf, go rock climbing, try quad biking, visit an art gallery or dine in a harbourside restaurant, you’ll find what you’re looking for here.

Interior Details
Each of the two apartments measures 40m2 and consists of a bedroom, a living room with a pull-out double sofabed, a bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette. An extra fold up bed is available if required. In addition there is a double or twin bedded en-suite room which can be booked as an add-on to the apartments. Each apartment is perfect just for a couple or small family, or larger groups of up to 10 can book both apartments and the additional en suite room. Beautiful views abound over both the valley and the lake and all the necessary mod cons are provided, from WiFi to air-conditioning. Cool, contemporary and light, these hideaways have been thoughtfully put together.

Exterior Details
Both apartments have their own partly covered porch (15m2) with outdoor furniture so you can enjoy the view and dine al fresco. Within the estate you will find a swimming lake which is perfect for bathing, a swimming pool, table tennis, and a large poolside terrace with BBQ where you can sunbathe, relax and enjoy a glass of local wine.  There are also kayaks available for you to use.

Conditions of Rental
A security deposit of 150 euros is required and 50% of the rental fee is payable at the time of booking (with the remainder due 6 weeks prior to arrival). Minimum stay is 1 week. The owners live in a building about 100m away and are on hand should you require any assistance.  Optional €30 'baby pack' - see general info paragraph for further details.
