One-Off Feature

Tucked away amongst the olive trees, set within its own little world and yet just a stone’s throw from the vibrant Cote d’Azur, L’Olivette is the perfect holiday hideaway for those who want to combine peace and relaxation with culture and glamour.

General Info

L’Olivette does not pretend to be sophisticated and luxurious – instead it is comfortable, characterful and utterly charming. The accommodation is delightfully simple, the grounds are full of olive trees and quiet shady spots, and nearby you will find everything from beaches and mountains to galleries and restaurants. If you’re a couple or a young family looking for a laidback coastal escape then this little chalet could be just the place.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Just 5 minutes away is the fascinating old town of Grasse, with its famous perfumeries, and the hills above Grasse provide some wonderful walks and panoramic views of the coastline. The Alps, where you can walk, climb, swim or ski, are nearby, and Cannes, with its shops, restaurants and annual film festival, is a half hour drive. Nature lovers will adore the various botanical gardens in the area, and there are beaches close by where you can bathe and stroll. St Paul de Vence, which is full of beautiful art galleries, is 19km from the chalet.

Further Information

The cabin, or little “chalet” which we call l’Olivette was built by the owners 30 years ago when they were living and working there.  It was built using new and recycled material.   The land and its immediate surroundings consisted of one property, called Domaine de Cantegril.  Cantegril in patois means “le chant du grillon” (the cricket’s song.)  All the terraces were cultivated with fruit and vegetables, all organically grown, and which we sold ourselves.  The family moved to the Pyrenees in 1989 but kept a small part of the land and planted olive trees, which they come back to harvest the olives from each year.  . As the family lives far away, the chalet and its guests are looked after by a local French person who lives 15 minutes away.  She knows the area well and can give you good ideas of places to go and things to see.
