Once part of the farm to Maesllwch Castle, Margaux Rose is one of three cottages forming an L-shape around a picturesque cobbled courtyard and nestled in the lush Wye Valley near to the town of Hay on Wye in Herefordshire. It is a great place for a group of friends or family to stay.
Just 4 miles up the road, or 2 hours by canoe, is Hay-on-Wye. The 'Town of Books' is fascinating. There are boutique clothes shops, antique dealers, retailer's catering for crafts and interiors amongst many other things. There are some excellent pubs and restaurants and the most wonderful, old-fashioned sweetie shop. The little shops sit along quaint, narrow streets with the stunning and picturesque backdrop of Hay's 12th century, partially ruined castle.
The River Wye, where you can fish for salmon and trout, runs just below the house and a short walk along the banks will take you to the River Café at Glasbury. You could hire a canoe and paddle 5 miles to Hay-on-Wye or 10 miles to The Boat Inn at Whitney, or you could drive the 4 miles to Hay and explore the quaint narrow streets, boutique clothes shops, antique dealers and book stores. Five miles away the Gospel Pass allows direct routes into the Llanthony Valley, Offa's Dyke Path, and the National Cycle Route 42 and there are walking trail galore, and activities like hang gliding, shooting, rock climbing, abseiling, gorge-walking, rafting, pot-holing, golf, off-road driving, paintballing, orienteering and quad-biking are all available in the area.
Directions provided on booking .Glasbury less than 1 mile, Hay-on-Wye 4 miles, Brecon 13 miles.

The cottage has four bedrooms and can sleep up to eight people, with two bedrooms on the ground floor (one king and one twin) and two on the first floor (one king and one super king). There is a ground floor bathroom with shower and both bedrooms on the ground floor have wood floors, beamed ceilings and full height windows. Alson on the first floor is a large bathroom and a fabulous open plan living area. There is a well equipped L shaped kitchen (including dishwasher and washer dryer) and a dining table and chairs. There are three sofas arranged around a woodburning stove and TV with DVD player. The whole room has beautiful roof beams and there are two large circular windows overlooking the courtyard.
Beautiful, mature gardens lie to the rear of the properties and a private terrace area is provided for each. Children will love the vast lawns behind the cottages and are welcome to explore and play in the large field nearby. Private terrace with furnitures and BBQ. Margaux Rose shares a separate driveway behind the property with Yellow Drama and there is ample parking and large lawned garden with terrace.
A welcome tray is provided at each cottage and please note that a £250 bond is required per property upon arrival. Further accommodation for 14 people can be provided by booking the neighbouring cottages. The cottage is suitable for one well behaved pet. Mobile reception is variable.
