One-Off Feature

With mountain and sea views from the house and garden terraces, you would be forgiven for not wanting to leave this beautiful Catalan villa during your holiday. However, with a long sandy beach just 3km away, and three PGA golf clubs within 5 minutes drive of the house, you might just have to....(Catalan license number: HUTG-007376 49.)

General Info

Located between the beaches of Begur on the Costa Brava and the hilltop medieval village of Pals, La Torreta was built in the 1990s by a French artist wanting access to the panoramic sea, mountain and countryside views the house offers. The turret was built as an art studio, with triple aspect windows attracting the special light in an area which attracted Picasso, Dali and Miro. The house is well situated for a wide range of activities and excursions, offering easy access to a choice of sandy beaches, picturesque coves or interesting medieval villages. The house is an ideal location for golfers requiring a choice of excellent PGA courses within a very short distance, or for families, small parties or couples looking for a base for activity holidays. There is easy access to the main roads and to a good range of shops and restaurants. The house has been recently improved and furnished. The grounds were totally renovated and landscaped in 2006.

Good range of local shops available, in walking and short driving distance. Take-away food available from 0.25km. Good range of banks / cashpoints in local towns and at local shops. Restaurants - excellent range within short distance, from Michelin quoted restaurant to inexpensive beachside restaurants. Platja de Pals (3 km from house) - long sandy beach accessible in different places. Good for children. Pedaloes, windsurfing. Numerous small sandy coves within 10 minutes drive; fishing towns with good beaches eg L'Escala and Palamos - 15 minutes; lively resorts with large sandy beaches eg Platja d'Aro - 20 minutes. Skiing: Vallter 2000 is within an easy 2 hours drive on good roads; La Molina and Vall de Núria are also about 2 hours; Andorra 3 hours.

Interior Details
The house, built on a hillside, has accommodation on three levels. From the road, you enter the house at the middle level. Here there are open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas, all furnished in a modern style. The living areas each have triple French windows leading out onto terraces. A covered section of the rear terrace is equipped with a large gas grill/barbeque and a spacious outdoor dining area (seating eight people) overlooking the panoramic views. Leading off the living area, there are two twin and one double bedrooms and two shower rooms. The bedrooms are all furnished in a simple, modern Mediterranean style. The kitchen is well equipped for up to eight people, and has an ample supply of crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. A spiral staircase, winding round a stained glass window made by the original owner, leads to the versatile tower room which has wide-ranging views to the sea and the mountains.

Exterior Details
The lower level of the house contains the pool terrace, and also another outdoor living area. A second covered terrace again has dining faciltiies for eight, and provides a welcome shaded eating/playing space for hot days. The house has its own private swimming pool measuring 8m x 4m. It is provided with a tailored thermal cover, but this is rarely required in the summer months. Adjacent to the pool is the pool store which normally has a variety of inflatables and pool toys, and to which visitors often contribute. The pool terrace is equipped with eight sun loungers and three large patio parasols. The house is situated in grounds of 600sqm which have been landscaped as a hillside Mediterranean garden.

Further Details
The house is within 5 minutes drive of two PGA golf clubs, the 18 hole Golf Platja de Pals, and the 27 hole Golf Empordà, where there is also a newly opened Spa. Both courses have golf schools, with tuition available in several languages. Within 20/25 minutes drive: Golf d`Aro (Mas Nou), Club de Golf Costa Brava (Santa Cristina d`Aro), PGA Golf de Catalunya, Golf Girona. 30-40 minutes: Golf Perelada, TorreMirona Golf Club. Excellent clay-court tennis and Padel tennis facilities are located nearby and a new tree-top adventure facility for both adults and children is located within 5 minutes drive. Barcelona, Girona, the Pyrenees and the French border beaches are all within easy reach. The three sites of the Dali Foundation are all easily accessible, with Dali's castle at Pubol being very near. There is no shortage of activities in the immediate area, including segway trails, go-karting, flying, paragliding, horse riding on the beach, paintballing and many others. It is also a good area for walkers and cyclists.

Conditions of Rental
25% non refundable deposit with booking form. Payment in EUROS. Balance due 8 weeks prior to holiday. All directions/instructions issued prior to holiday. Local key collection and payment of Catalan Government Tourist Tax. Special arrangements possible for late arrivals. House manual kept at the villa. The house can only accommodate a maximum of 8 people. Changeover day: SATURDAY Arrival: from 16.00hrs Departure: before 10.00hrs. Bedlinen and bath towels provided at start of rental; house cleaned at end of rental. Use of air conditioning and wi-fi included. Barbeque gas is not included. No pets can be accommodated. The house is a no smoking area. On arrival, all rental parties are required to register with the local police within 24 hours of arrival and to pay the appropriate Catalan Government Tourist Tax, as legally required since November 2012.
