An ideal location for a short break or holiday in the Dorset countryside, this property great for families and groups of friends alike. Rural England doesn’t get more lovely than the area surrounding Crepe Farm Cottage and guests benefit from being close to the historic Symondsbury Estate with all the wonderful activities and walks it has to offer. And the best part is that all of this is within only two miles of the stunning Jurassic coastline of Dorset with its perfect, sandy beaches. A holiday you won’t want to miss!

General Info

The owners of Symondsbury Estate are proud of this property and it’s easy to see why. Crepe Farm Cottage has outstanding views across the fields and lies close to Colmers hill where visitors get an unrivalled, breath-taking view of the surrounding countryside. The property sleeps up to seven people but very large groups can be accommodated easily as Crepe Farm Cottage and Crepe Farm House can be rented out together and are within a very short distance of each other. Originally two separate farm workers’ cottages, it was renovated fully a few years ago so it has all the modern conveniences to cater to the needs of its guests. A quick glance at the place however will make it clear that it still retains all of the old, historic character which it has in common with so much else on the estate. Symondsbury Estate benefits from the stunning natural beauty of the surrounding countryside but remains close to Dorset’s Jurassic Coastline which is home to so many amazing beaches. It only takes a few miles of walking along the spectacular coastal and country paths to visit these places and there’s so much to choose from. There’s plenty of activities on the historic Symondsbury Estate itself and there are lots of good walks in this coastal location with the best natural scenery a holiday can offer.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

Crepe Farm Cottage benefits from both the seclusion of its location, as well as being so close to Symondsbury Estate who own and manage the property. Set amongst pasture and ancient woodland in rural Dorset, Symondsbury Estate is within walking distance of beautiful, untouched beaches. Symondsbury Estate has been owned by the Colfox family for well over a hundred years and has buildings which date back to the fifteenth century. It’s near to the Jurassic coast and to so many amazing beaches that you will be spoilt for choice. A short walk takes visitors to the top of Colmer hill to see the absolutely stunning panoramic view of the sea and rolling hills of the Dorset countryside. Sometimes buzzards can be spotted overhead and it’s a fantastic place to feel on top of the world for a moment. There are plenty of other routes and historic paths over the estate and bicycles can be hired for this purpose – even horses are available.

An animal viewing area contains many farmyard friends to charm all visitors: Black pigs, Pygmy goats and the ever-friendly Minty the sheep are a delight to all, especially any children visiting. Symondsbury Estate’s garden provides fresh, organic produce for the Symondsbury Kitchen all year round and some of these delicious jams, marmalades, cheeses, beers, and gins can be purchased by guests. Horse and carriage rides are available for a leisurely tour of the area and for the more adventurous there are even survival courses on offer which teach key survival skills delivered by experienced and knowledgeable trainers. There are one-day taster courses on offer for the bold and four-day courses for the even bolder!

Guests who take a short trip to the village of Bridport only a few minutes’ drive away will find several restaurants as well as a vintage market and a museum. There’s a Waitrose in Bridport for any last-minute home comforts, but you’ll have everything you could possibly want for your holiday on Symondsbury Estate itself.
