Light, spacious and stylishly furnished, this is a sensational setting for a truly memorable countryside getaway.
What was once a Georgian manor has now been lovingly and thoughtfully transformed into the ultimate retreat, perfect for groups of friends and family celebrating special occasions, with unparallelled panoramas and private access to Lake Windermere.
There is endless outdoor fun to be had, both on the estate and in the surrounding countryside. A Segway tour is a fun and original way to explore the gardens around Graythwaite Hall, there are 5,000 acres to stroll around, and anglers can enjoy our 2.5 acre private lake stocked with wild brown and rainbow trout. The Lake District is a haven for walking, mountain biking and lake cruises, you can try off-road driving and hot air ballooning or you could go fishing at Esthwaite Water fishery. Into the Wild teach bushcraft skills on the estate, Grizedale Forest (home to walking and biking routes, as well as Go Ape (the high-wire forest adventure) is nearby, and the YMCA National Centre, just 5 minutes away, offers kayaking, archery and climbing among other things. And if you’d prefer a gentler pace, visit the picturesque and historic village of Hawkshead, the busy market town of Ulverston, the homes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth, and the nostalgic Haverthwaite Steam Railway.
If you are coming by car, take the M6 to junction 36 then join the A591 to Kendal, Barrow and the Lakes. After about 4 miles you’ll see a sign for Barrow A590; leave at this slip road and stay on the A590 following signs to Barrow. After about 10 miles you’ll enter Newby Bridge. Go straight across the roundabout and after 400m turn right, up the west side of Lake Winderemere, signposted Hawkshead. You’ll drive over a small bridge and past the Swan Hotel and Spa. Continue on this road for 7–10 minutes. You’ll pass a YMCA on your right. Continue for a couple of minutes and you'll see a small white sign on your right for GRAYTHWAITE. You'll then see Low Graythwaite Bed and Breakfast on your left. Turn right into a private road directly opposite Low Graythwaite B&B to arrive at Silverholme.
