The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The historic market town of Strathaven is perfectly situated for people looking to explore South Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas.  Glasgow, Stirling and Edinburgh are all within easy driving distance.  Strathaven itself is a picturesque town with lots to see and do, not least the castle which lies to the south of the town and is now a Scheduled Ancient Monument.  The town is also home to Scotland’s only annual Hot Air Balloon Festival.  There’s a good mix of shops and coffee houses, and a variety of fine restaurants and pubs.  There are two lovely parks where you can go boating on the pond, take a ride on the miniature railway and have a go on the putting green.  In the summer there are gala celebrations which include a famous Duck Race down the Powmillon burn.
