Originally built in 1866 as an estate worker’s dwelling, this charming ‘honey pot’ cottage is a characterful and restful base from which to explore West Somerset and the Exmoor National Park.
Historically this cottage was built as one of twelve on the Ashley Combe Estate, home to Lord Byron’s daughter Ada, but now it has been fully refurbished to provide cosy comfortable holiday accommodation for couples and small families. The accommodation is all on one floor, with all the mod cons you could want for a relaxing home-from-home experience. The large private garden is the perfect spot for reading, snoozing and dining al fresco. And in the surrounding area there are pretty villages, welcoming local pubs, scenic walks and beautiful beaches. This is a lovely little cottage in a peaceful rural location.
Porlock is a working Exmoor village with a good selection of shops, grocers, butchers, galleries, tea rooms and independent restaurants, or you could head for the harbour at Porlock Weir. Minehad, the nearest main town, offers supermarkets and high street banks, and in the opposite direction you will find the lovely villages of Lynmouth and Lynton. Keen walkers and cyclists will find a footpath opposite the cottage which winds through a beautiful valley, and Bossington Beach is just a 10 minute drive away.
There is parking for two cars on the drive and the nearest train station is Taunton. Full arrival instructions will be provided when you book.
Nearest Train Station:
10 mins to pebble beaches of Porlock Wier or Bossington, or 30 mins to sandy beach of Coombe Martin
The Culbone Inn across the road
The cottage has one large double bedroom, a sitting room with a wood burning fireplace, a dining area, a modern fitted kitchen ad a bathroom with a freestanding bath. A flat screen TV and DVD player are provided, as are linens and towels.
The fully enclosed private garden covers 1/3 of an acre and comprises tables, chairs and a parasol, as well as a BBQ.
