Charming and characterful yet supremely comfortable, Chateau de Puissentut is a medieval chateau with a modern twist. Whether you’re here for a holiday or a celebration, you cannot fail to relax and unwind in this beautiful tranquil setting.
The Chateau dates back to the 14th century and has now been transformed into a wonderful rural retreat in the heart of the Gers region, where the air is clear, the fields are full of sunflowers and the pace of life is slow. The robust stone walls have stood for centuries and are full of history, but the interiors are fresh and contemporary, with luxurious furnishings, up to date mod cons, and a diverse array of living and entertaining spaces. This is a wonderful and welcoming place both inside and out.
The Gers is a beautiful and unspoilt agricultural region in southwest France, home to medieval villages, weekly famers’ markets and regular food and music festivals. Historic towns like Lectoure, Condom and Auch, with their dramatic cathedrals, bars and restaurants, are all well worth a visit, and the vibrant university city of Toulouse is just an hour away. You may find it hard to leave the peace and luxury of the Chateau, but if you do want to get out and about there are plenty of activities on offer nearby – golf, horse riding, canoeing, wine tasting, tennis, swimming, quad biking and paintballing to name but a few. The village of Monfort, a 5-minute drive or a 30-minute walk away has a bar/restaurant, a grocer, a bakery and a post office, and all other amenities are available within a 15-minute drive.
The nearest airport is Toulouse (a 50 minute drive) which is serviced by Air France/KLM, British Airways and Easy Jet. Ryanair flies into Carcassonne airport (1 hour 45 minutes away), and Bergerac, Bordeaux, Brives and Rodez airports are also good options (between 2 and 2
The main house has ten en-suite bedrooms (two of which are wheelchair accessible), as well as a lounge with a library, a dining room that can seat up to 36 people, a professional fully equipped kitchen, a study and even three treatment rooms where you can have massages. A separate building called The Chapel houses two further bedrooms and an open-plan living area, and within the grounds there is a Barn with 150m2 of workshop space and a selection of yoga kit.
The Chateau is set in pretty gardens that look out over fields and woodland. Within the grounds you will find an unheated swimming pool, a variety of sun terraces and outdoor furniture, a bar and lots of quiet spots where you can read, relax or play.
The Chateau is perfect for workshops and weddings and it also hosts a variety of therapeutic retreats throughout the year.
