At the heart of a 24 acre estate down a winding country track lies Finca de Palmero, a grand retreat with mountains behind it and sea views in front. Blissfully private with oodles of space, this is a very stylish and exclusive place to relax.
Tucked away up a hill, past the keeper’s cottage and behind an electric gate, Finca de Palmero offers seclusion and tranquillity in equal measure. The sprawling low-lying buildings rise up the hillside in gentle steps, the interiors are luxurious - with lofty ceilings, vast sofas and modern art dotted along the walls – and the bedrooms have a chic yet rustic elegance about them. You’d be hard pressed to find a more lavish and expansive holiday haven in such a beautiful part of Spain.
The finca is 7km from the famously picturesque village of Gaucin, where you will find banks, a supermarket, a post office, a doctor, a pharmacy and a good selection of restaurants and tapas bars. There are sandy beaches less than 45 minutes away at Sabinillas, or the golf courses at Valderama, Sotogrande and San Roque are within an hour’s drive. And the more energetic among you can go walking and riding in the surrounding hills or sailing and windsurfing at Tarifa. You could even take a day trip via hovercraft to Tangiers. Glamorous Marbella, with its shops, restaurants and nightlife, is just an hour from the finca, and in the winter you can go skiing at Sierra Nevada, a 2.5 hour drive.
Gibraltar Airport is a 60 minute drive from the property and Malaga Airport is 80 minutes.

Inside is designer smart in creams, taupes and golds, ceilings are lofty and beamed, floors gleam beneath fine rugs, sofas are vast and modern art dots walls and glass-topped tables. Bedrooms have a restrained luxury and a smart rustic style: cool tiles, wrought-iron sconces, shuttered windows. You enter the finca through antique double doors which open into a split level entrance hall. From here you go through to the salon, a beamed room with a wood burning stove and doors to the dining terrace, and up a few steps you will find the country style kitchen and an elevated dining table, refrigerator with filter water and ice dispenser, as well as a larder. Doors off the kitchen lead to a utility area, a boot room, two wine stores and an office. There is even a library with a TV. There are four en-suite bedrooms, all of which have access to private terraces or balconies, and the master suite boasts a log fire, a separate dressing room and a Jacuzzi bath. Off the main entrance hall there is an amazing indoor spa area which comprises a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi and a sauna.
The salon doors open onto a large dining terrace and beyond this there is a swimming pool area with a bar and panoramic views. And linked to the main house there is charming guest cottage with its own pretty walled patio. The finca sits in 24 acres of land with fabulous views down to the coast – on a clear day you can see Morocco. Enjoy a swim whatever the weather in the fabulous 13m by 3m heated pool, or have a refreshing jacuzzi or relaxing sauna. The spacious salon leads out to a swimming pool that wraps itself around a Mirador overlooking the bar, which allows you to live the outdoor lifestyle to the full. The terraced dining area makes a cosy yet elegant entertaining space.
