Situated in its own lush green valley just a short walk from several beautiful Cornish beaches, Cotna Eco Retreat is a low impact, sustainable and environmentally friendly yurt farm which offers a unique glamping experience.
There’s no question that Cotna is a special place that has its own rhythm of life. The farm produces solar and wind energy and grows organic salad leaves and vegetables, the air is clear and quiet, and the outdoor gardens are lovingly-tended hives of activity. And within the grounds there are two lovely yurts overlooking orchards, streams, ponds and woodland. The yurts were expertly crafted from local ash and sail canvas, with colourful comfortable interiors, and the magical and secluded surroundings are the ideal setting for a romantic retreat or an unforgettable holiday with family and friends.
Nearby you can visit Cornish landmarks like the Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the fishing village of Mevagissey, and the beautiful beaches of Gorran Haven, Vault, Hemmick and Caerhays are all just a 30 minute walk away along coastal paths and quiet country lanes. A 5 minute walk up the track from the farm you will find the excellent Barley Sheaf pub, and on site you can take part in courses about wild food foraging, sourdough bread making and organic gardening.
If you’re coming by car then you’d be better off following the directions on the website than the SatNav. And if you’re coming by public transport the nearest train station is St Austell and there are buses between St Austell and Gorran.

Names after Cornish apple varieties, Gilliflower (16’) and Tregonna King (18’) both have wood burners, solar lighting and room for 2-4 people. Gilliflower has a light airy modern feel with Turkish Killim rugs and Indian prints and Tregonna King is a more Moroccan boutique style yurt with North African rugs and stripped furniture. Each has warm bedding, an effective stove and a selection of kitchen equipment and basic provisions. There are warm showers and comport loos nearby, as well as a kitchen shed with washing up facilities.
Each yurt sits in an orchard contained by ancient stone walls, oak and hazel woodland and a running stream. There are picnic tables and BBQs for al fresco dining and there is plenty of space for additional tents. Further afield within the grounds there are horse fields and woodland to wander through.
Basic supplies are provided but you can also buy organic eggs, fruit and vegetables as well as freshly baked sourdough bread. Food hampers and meals can be prepared for you and homemade jams and chutneys are always available. In addition to the two yurts there is a gorgeous straw bale barn that sleeps 2-3 people.
