Based at the extraordinary Port Lympne wild animal park in Kent, Bear Lodge is a unique overnight safari lodge where you can visit the wilds of South America without leaving the UK. Enjoy an award winning safari experience, a magical night under the stars, in this unique and picturesque location. Perfect for famiies and groups of friends, each luxurious safari tent can sleep up to eight people. Wonderful views over the bear paddock and South American experience, and free entry to the nearby sister park Howletts at no extra charge.
Bear Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy a wild camping experience without having to sacrifice your home comforts or leave the UK! The camp is made up of 19 luxury tented lodges, which overlook the animal paddocks and the 600 acre reserve, and across the Romney marsh to the Kent coastline. With well-appointed interiors and a backdrop which offers you the chance to spot a variety of wildlife, Bear Lodge delivers a glamping experience like no other.
When you stay at Bear Lodge you get free unlimited entry to both Port Lympne and Howletts Wild Animal Parks and you also have access to evening activities like walking tours of the park with a keeper and evening safari tours when the park is closed to the public. The Lodge is also very close to the picturesque Kentish coast and the county’s many other attractions.
The park is within an hour of London on the high speed train and is easily reached from the channel ports and Eurostar terminal. The entrance to Elephant Lodge is separate to the Park entrance - directions will be provided in your booking information.

Each lodge sleeps up to 8 people in two double bedrooms, one double sofa bed in the living area and bunk beds in the twin room. The lodges have private toilet and shower facilities and are equipped with a log burning stove to keep you cosy. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided. There is a limited power supply in the tents but candles are permitted as long as they are used safely.
Each tent has a verandah from where you can enjoy the views and watch the children playing safely. The tents surround the central Club House Restaurant where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The central Club House restaurant caters for all tastes with its extensive menus. There are two sittings in the Club House. The first sitting is 17:30 until 19:00 and the second from 19:30 until 21:00. If you wish to book a table we only take bookings for the second sitting.
Conditions of Rental
Entry to both Howletts and Port Lympne is included for the duration of the stay. Guests can choose to explore both parks (included in costs) while they are staying with us. Infants are welcome, however please be aware we do not provide cots or linen. Bath towels, hand towels and tea towels are supplied. Please be aware that due to Bear Lodge’s location in the wild animal park, we are unable to accept pets at the campsite. Bear Lodge is open from March - October.
