One-Off Feature

Dunstan Hall is an exceptional Grade II* listed country hall in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, less than a mile from the pretty coastal village of Craster in Northumberland.  Sleeping up to 18 people (or up to 29 if you book the two additional cottages on site), it’s a perfect setting for a group get together of family and friends, oozing history, with large grounds, and easy access to the delights of the beautiful Northumberland coastline.

General Info

The hall has stunning views to the east towards Dunstanburgh Castle and is just a mile along a pretty bridleway to the beach at Embleton Bay.  There’s a host of historical and recreational sites to visit in the vicinity, marvellous beaches and coastal walks, as well as visits to local castles, gardens and islands.  Something for everyone in the group.  The hall itself has a wealth of history - parts of the existing pele tower are thought to date as far back as the 11th century, whilst the rest of the house was built in the 14th and 18th centuries.  Some of the fireplaces and stonework come from the lost Tudor house of Gloster Hill.  There are two smaller properties adjacent and opposite, which sleeps 4 and 6 respectively, so if your group is larger, you can book all three places to accommodate up to 29 guests in total.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

If you can drag yourself away from the beautiful setting in which you’ll be staying, there’s no shortage of places to go and things to see in the vicinity.  You’re based just one mile from the sea and Craster harbour, from where the beautiful coastline stretches north to Dunstanburgh, Embleton, Beadnell and Bamburgh, and to the south following the sea as far as Alnmouth.  Within a 40 minute drive you can find yourself at no less than six castles, and there are also some beautiful gardens nearby, not least the famous Alnwick Gardens.  For the foodies amongst you, there are several renowned places to eat and drink, and in fact Craster itself is world famous for its kippers!  Biking, watersports, hiking, golfing, fishing, bird watching - all these activities are available locally.
