There is lots to do in and around St Ives, not least just sitting on your doorstep gazing at the sea and watching fishermen bring in the catch of the day. The town is known for its art galleries, particularly the famous Tate gallery which overlooks Porthmeor Beach, but it is also full of cafes serving fresh fish, independent shops and old-school seaside pubs. Both in and around St Ives there are beaches to enjoy, and if you’re there at the end of the summer don’t miss the annual September Festival celebrating arts and culture.
St Ives has a train station which is accessible via the St Ives Branch Line (the mainline trains go to Penzance) or you can fly into Newquay airport. If you’re driving, you’ll come via the A30 or A38 from Exeter.
