Inspired by culture, nature and travel, the Hunza Ecolodge is a unique Hungarian hideaway and the magnificent Treehouse, with its views over the valley, is an enchanting base from which to experience the best of it.
Inspired by culture, nature and travel, the Hunza Ecolodge is the perfect place to enjoy stunning scenery, mouth-watering home-cooked food and the lush green beauty and tranquillity of Southern Hungary. The accommodation is cosy and comfortable, built with a blend of local natural materials and modern conveniences. Each morning a fresh and delicious organic breakfast can be ordered to your door, and twice a week the hosts lay on home cooked dinners. And all around you there are hiking trails, lush forests and swimming lakes. This is ecotourism as you’ve never seen it before.
The ecolodge is located at the border of a forest, in the little village of Bodolyabér in Southern Hungary. Nearby you can visit the city of Pécs, the medicinal thermal baths and the numerous sites of Roman, Ottoman and Austrian-Hungarian heritage. Alternatively, the Mecsek hills, Zselic slopes and the riverbanks of the Danube and Dráva provide abundant flora, fauna and outdoor pursuits. The region of Baranya is truly stunning all year round.
The train station of Sásd is 7km away, with a very good connection (only 2 hours) from Budapest or frequent buses run to the 'Kisbodolya' stop, just a 2 minute walk from Hunza. Visitors by car should enter Hungary via Wien – Györ and pass the village Mór (road 81).
Treehouse living is the stuff of fairytales and this is no exception. The accommodation can sleep up to five people in comfortable beds, and you will also find a living space, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a dry toilet. Organic vegetables from the garden are available for self-catering (either for free or for a fair price).
The Treehouse has a terrace with views over the valley, and from the site you can walk or cycle directly into the forest, where swimming and fishing lakes can be found. Hiking maps and a travel guide are at your disposal, or you can borrow tandems to explore.
Changeover day is Sunday with check-in between 3pm and 8pm and check-out at 10am. Cleaning and linen fee of 50 euros. Workshops about ecological gardening, Mediterranean and Eastern vegetarian cooking and medicinal herbal products can be arranged. Breakfast available at an additional cost.
