A gloriously romantic converted barn near Crewkerne in Somerset, dating back to the 1800s, nestling in farmland with stunning south facing views of woodland and fields.  The perfect retreat for couples who are looking for a romantic and stylish getaway, it has super stylish interiors and a private hot tub on the terrace.

General Info

The Hideaway is one of a cluster of cottages set on 260 acres of organic farmland in Somerset.  Surrounded by footpaths (one of which runs straight past the property to the award winning gastropub) and stunning rural views, and less than 30 minutes from the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline with its spectacular beaches.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

If you can drag yourself away from your ultimate relaxation at the cottage, there are lots of things to do and see in the surrounding area.  Archery (2 mins), Horseriding Stables (4 mins), Coarse Fishing, (5 mins), Polo (10 mins), Electric bike tours, rib rides, dolphin watching and fishing trips at West Bay (30 mins) , golf (5 mins), paintballing (30 mins), spa at Corscombe (15 mins), cookery classes at Abbots Hill (25 mins).   The town of Crewkerne is 2 miles from the cottage and has a good range of shops and supermarkets, as well as a train station with a direct link to London Waterloo.  The pretty village of Hinton St George is 1.5 miles away and has an excellent village shop and an award winning gasto pub, as well as a tearoom.  The cottage is just 30 minutes from the town of Lyme Regis, where you can go fossil hunting, visit the microbrewery, or browse the many boutiques and second hand shops.

Getting There & Local Amenities

Getting There:
The farm is located just off the A30 and A303 and it takes an hour and a half by road to Bristol and Bath and less than an hour to Exeter, where there is an international airport. There are direct trains from London Waterloo, Salisbury and Exeter to Crewkerne station, which is only a 5 minute taxi ride away.

Interior Details
Entering the barn you go through the boot room with its original brick floor and into the open plan living space which is  light, spacious and brimming with original features.  Inside the barn feels like a boutique hotel; no expense has been spared to create the perfect blend of character and style.  The living space is open plan with fully equipped kitchen, dining table, log burner, TV, DVD, stereo and radio.  There is a luxury kingsize bed, Egyptian cotton linen and towels, and a freestanding roll top bath and separate shower. Wifi throughout.  Wine and flowers on arrival, milk in the fridge and some tea and coffee.

Exterior Details
Doors from the living space lead out to the large secluded south facing patio where you will have sun from breakfast till bedtime, you can admire the views, dine outside and sit round the fire pit.  There is also a private hot tub on the terrace, perfect for a spot of nighttime star gazing.  Private driveway with parking.  There is a woodland sauna a short walk from the cottage. 

Further Details
There are three other cottages on the farm, and a collection of yurts and shepherd's huts.  The farm has its very own medieval castle site - Castle Hill - which has 360 degree views across the Somerset countryside.  Castle Hill was featured in Time Team 2011 - the dig revealed the footing for the tower, as well as pots, tools and trinkets from everyday life in the 1200s.
