This Dorset country cottage retreat lies in an area of ancient beauty. Nearby are perfect beaches and stunning views along the many coastal paths and a world heritage site and this idyllic rural location offers so much to all sorts of people looking for either peace, adventure, or both.

General Info

On Symondsbury Estate is the charming cottage of Seaspray, which is only a short drive or walk away from both a striking coastline and the village of Bridport. The proximity of Symondsbury Estate to a world heritage site and the Jurassic coast mean that it only takes a few miles of walking along the spectacular coastal paths and countryside to visit these treasures. Those who visit Symondsbury Estate in Dorset benefit from both the tranquillity of the place and the convenience of the nearby village.

Those who love beaches, walking, and dogs can’t go wrong by visiting this dog-friendly, coastal location with the best natural scenery a holiday can offer. And when it’s time to leave the rambling beauty of the surrounding area, this lovely cottage for four provides outdoor decking with a barbecue for when the sun is shining, and a cosy interior with Wi-Fi for when it’s not.

The Area Surrounding The Property / Accommodation

The cottage is in the village of Eype, a stone's throw from Eype beach, and is part of the Symondsbury Estate collection.  Set amongst pasture and ancient woodland, Symondsbury Estate is within walking distance of coastlines of untouched beauty. Owned by the Colfox family for over a hundred years and with buildings which go back to 1440, Symondsbury Estate is near to a world heritage site, the Jurassic coast and so many amazing beaches that you will be spoilt for choice. Visitors can walk for a little over half an hour to the top of Colmer hill and enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the sea and rolling hills of the Dorset countryside with only the buzzards overhead getting a better view. There are plenty of other routes over the historic paths of the estate and bicycles can be hired for this purpose.

Animal lovers can have the chance to meet the animals in an animal viewing area where Black pigs, Pygmy goats and the ever-friendly Minty the sheep are a delight to all children as well as their parents. Symondsbury Estate’s garden provides fresh, organic produce for the Symondsbury Kitchen all year round and some of this delicious produce such as jams, marmalades, cheeses, beers, and gins can be purchased. Horse and Carriage rides are available for a leisurely tour and for the adventurous there are even survival courses on offer for those who wish to learn some key survival skills of the wild from experienced and knowledgeable trainers. One day taster courses for the bold and four days for the even bolder!

Visitors can take short trip to the nearby village of Bridport and find several restaurants as well as a museum and a vintage market. There’s even a Waitrose for any last-minute home comforts, but it’s unlikely that you won’t have everything you could want on Symondsbury Estate itself.
